I don't normally do this, but the Griz are going to smoke USD and prove right out of the gate they are a legit contender. The toughness and attitude are back and there is lots of talent on this Griz roster.

Sometimes when I read bold statements/predictions on egriz I'll roll my eyes at how ridiculous the statement is. And while I'm not sure because I'm always a worrier... I'll say, none of what you're saying is wrong about this team. It wouldn't totally shock me.

I’m not one to make bold statements on here, but this is the most confident I have been in the Griz in roughly 10 years. Hauck’s quiet, confident demeanor should also be noted. It is a stark contrast from last year and you can literally see his excitement. The players have used last season’s 4th quarter failures and the heart wrenching loss to the cats as motivation. By all accounts they had a fantastic off season. They also feel very disrespected by being underrated this preseason. The overall team has been improved through the addition of transfers and the development of young players and there is talent and depth across the board. The schedule is difficult, but if the o-line has made the strides that I have been told they have, this team could be special. Sit back and enjoy what I believe will he one hell of a ride and one that Griz nation has been missing for far too long.

How are they being underrated? They're a club that went 4-4 in Big Sky play, 6-5 overall while playing a relatively easy schedule.
So only last year is to be considered. Got it.

Where do you think they should be ranked?

Here's some videos from the games I mentioned in the report:

UNC game - lots of swing passes with the UNC DB's getting their feet cut out. You can see the skill the USD QB has running the ball and throwing it too, this guy's the real deal. UNC's tackling is... well... as we normally expect haha. The USD D-end, #44 is their big pass rush threat, he makes the highlight reel a few times.

WIU game - some zone-read, some RPO, using their big TE as a 1-on-1 in the endzone, even an option pitch, interesting...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnlzjjoBVd4

Here's the Weber game - pretty limited highlights but Weber's talented front line seemed time and time again to not allow Simmonds to step up in the pocket, they'd keep the middle bunched up and that appeared to lead to a lot of errors. Also recall USD's punt coverage last year was a little suspect, that shows here. Ugh that train horn of Webers.

K-State game highlight reel:

Two take aways from the Northern Colorado game; UNC looked awful and the USD cheer team at halftime looked awkward AF.

Take away from those clips. USD oline was overmatched on blitz packages. Many of the plays were broken protection. If our CBs hold up alright then I’m feeling pretty good about this one

with your report, it can only mean one thing....it's game week ! .....thanks b/w for the putting in the work.

No question about it. Have to pressure Simmons without getting burned. With several new OL starters for SD hopefully we can make that happen without gambling too much.

GRIZ!

Looking at the Weber video, if that's SD's punt coverage JLM is going to have a field day...and UM's blitzes are going to do some damage.

Their WRs and TEs look big. Our safeties and LBs will have to do a good job tackling and watching the QB if he decides to run. I'm guessing this will be a close game. If our secondary can hold up, I think we can get out of there with a win.

As a guy who watches Sneed from the other side, I'm telling you that guy look exactly like Sneed. Interesting matchup you kids find yourselves in this week. Don't embarrass the BSC please.

the only embarrassing thing this week will be the score out of Lubbock....

Gawd UNC is a horribly coached team. Terrible angles. Overpursuit. Shitty tackling.

And in watching the Weber highlights, if that is USD’s SENIOR laden O-line, and they’ve all had to be replaced, the our D-line should have a feast on Saturday.

The more I see the more I’m looking forward to watching the game with my dad.

Are you finding this genuinely funny or is this a sarcastic laugh? I’m curious.

That's a great question. Losing to a bottom MV team is embarrassing and affects the entire conference come playoff time (for teams that make the playoffs). Getting your ass handed to you by a Big 12 team? Not so much.

And I wonder how many of these blowhards would be willing to place a wager on who gets throttled worse in their play up game.

I’m sure it will feel a lot like the ass throttling the Bison gave you guys in your last game. At least this one won’t be on espn for the entire nation to laugh at.

You have one 8-5 season after 5 years... I don’t think that qualifies as being able to set a standard of what would embarrass the Big Sky... I don’t think either of our programs can at the moment.
