Of course the Griz want to beat the cats ever bit as much as the cats want to beat the Griz, if not more. That's not the point. The point is that the cats (and the greater MSU campus for that matter - my son attended MSU and they wouldn't stop talking at orientation about how much better MSU is than UM), have an inferiority complex, or some kind of complex, when it comes to the Griz. At UM the Griz have many goals, one of which is to beat the cats. I suppose the same is true of the cats. The difference is that the Griz motivate themselves to be the best they can be, the best in the conference, the best in the country. They don't motivate themselves by trying to be better than the cats every day. The fact that the cats do this is not only emblematic of their Griz complex, I would argue that it adds to it. It puts so much emphasis on one game it might also put unnecessary emphasis and pressure on the players to win that one game, thereby making them play too tight.

Hey if they beat us they have a chance to be in the mix with a team that's in the perrineal NC title hunt. NOT, they just can smell the semis, and can't rid themselves of the quarters stench!
