Way to turn a good positive post about a positive story into the typical eGriz bash...My Fricken word you people are pathetic!

You must have missed my compliments from above. My other remarks were directed at Missoula in general.

Excellent - albeit not surprising - news!! Thanks for posting, Brint!!

Punch, get the f-ck off our board. You are a troll with no redeeming value.

You must not be able to read. I said some complimentary and very accurate things about high-character Griz football players doing the right thing and using their fame to to good for the people of the State of Montana. I don't care who you are - if you're doing kind deeds like that, you deserve all of the accolades in the world.

Everett, you are a moron.

that's great, but this is actually an area we need to pick up the pace a little bit. either that or we're not tracking this stuff properly. this is from last year, but the only teams we were ahead of were two teams that didn't do anything. we only had 242 hours department-wide.

See above, here is the real reason the Griz have been in the news latelty, regardless if they are current players or not. They don't spend enough time giving back to the community in which the live.

I wasn't able to read the rest of the story about a PHONE CALL to a student at the Great Falls School for the Deaf and Blind. Basically it sounded like some players called a kid said "Hi" and that was there community service for the year. Congrats you made a phone call! Point being, it takes more than 1 phone call to start the ball rolling to have these student-athletes grasp the idea that its more about others than them.

JP,
I saw it and if you had left it at that instead of throwing the typical eGriz poster shit bomb at the city of Missoula you'd been fine. Am I not correct in my analysis? The story is about some College kids who in the face of bad press are doing the right things. If this is the case, (whether Griz or Cat athletes) they should be recognized for it.

The problem lies when people just can't resist going the extra step by showing up and pissing on the local fence post...because why?

Again - Big thanks to the Griz athletes that are doing the RIGHT THINGS and to every athlete for doing the right things.

Go Griz!

Exactly. I commented the people who deserve to be commented. And rightfully so. There aren't any exceptions or hidden agendas there. Missoula itself as a city doesn't deserve the compliments because they don't give to Pater Ursus Arctos' shits about people who need our help. It isn't a Cat thing, it isn't a Griz thing, it is a human being thing. It is great that college kids are stepping up, but Missoula city government won't do jack to aid in that process. It's sad that it falls on college kids to step up and do the right thing. But it is inspiring to see that in the failure of the city of Missoula and many indifferent citizens living there that athletes will step up and help out with people who need it. Am I not correct in my analysis?

Mods, can we please split Punch's and FTG's smack to the Bench so this thread can reflect what it should: The great work being done by UM athletes? Evidently, some idiotic cat fans can't figure out that there is an appropriate spot for the crap they spew.

I'm pretty sure the local paper would print a "good news" story if you could somehow get the phrase "gang rape" in the headline.

So far Punch has had more good to say about our players in this thread than you have.

Accurate. I think someone is still a little butt hurt about being called out for his outrageous predictions in other threads.

In other news, I appreciate athletes who use their popularity and the automatic respect that comes with playing a sport most everyone enjoys. These guys, including Wagennman, play really well on the field for 4 years but things like this last much longer. I know how busy these guys are during the season and to fit in time for things like this is truly commendable.

If I get banned for saying something like that, so be it, but I think Everett is just being a b%*ch and needs to relax and agree that these guys are doing great things on and off the field.

Thanks to B. Wahlberg for getting the "good" news to us about our players.

To heck with nut case Punch for growling about Missoula folks. Why? Who cares? Punch should designate an entire thread concerning his hate and get it off his feeble mind.

I think it is pretty well established that Missoula city government is inept and short sighted. There are plenty of competent, caring and well-intentioned business people in Missoula who have to make up for it. There are athletes who have to make up for it as well. What's wrong with calling a spade a spade? I'm not saying everyone sucks, I'm just laying blame where it deservedly belongs - at the feet of the idiots at city hall.

That's great you feel that way, punch. Please feel free to place all your wacked thoughts on the appropriate board and keep your crap off the FB board.

Thanks.

Ok, Everett. You should apply to be a mod instead of just whining when you get proven wrong. Then you can just ban me yourself when you wreck yourself!

Unfortunately, we live in a sensationalist society, one in which doing the right thing is not as newsworthy as screwing up or just plain being stupid. You rarely read about former athletes (no matter if they attended UM, MSU, Montana Tech or wherever) getting a promotion at their company or pitching in to help a fellow member of their community who is having a tough time; or simply just being a good father, mother, husband, wife, etc and consistently giving of themselves to help others. During the recent holiday and football bowl season, a lot of feel good stories were aired about teams and individuals doing good things such as visiting children's hospitals or participating in food or toy drives; but now it's January and we won't hear of such things until next December. Yet I for one hope that such activities continue to happen all year long; the most important thing is not the press that they receive (or don't receive as it were) but that those things do happen. Goodness rarely grabs headlines and that is a sad statement about not only the press, but us as a society.

Come on Punch. You missed an opportunity here to mention pending sanctions. You are really slipping dude.

You really are good at playing the victim. You should hang out with Jordy. It seems like he attracts those kinds. I know you love chasing those jerseys too, pal, so chase away.

I have good things to say about the Griz football players. A significant number of past players are good friends of mine too. It's too bad it is so damn hard to say the same about most of the fans.
