Some more football news (1/11/13)

Unfortunately, we live in a sensationalist society, one in which doing the right thing is not as newsworthy as screwing up or just plain being stupid. You rarely read about former athletes (no matter if they attended UM, MSU, Montana Tech or wherever) getting a promotion at their company or pitching in to help a fellow member of their community who is having a tough time; or simply just being a good father, mother, husband, wife, etc and consistently giving of themselves to help others. During the recent holiday and football bowl season, a lot of feel good stories were aired about teams and individuals doing good things such as visiting children's hospitals or participating in food or toy drives; but now it's January and we won't hear of such things until next December. Yet I for one hope that such activities continue to happen all year long; the most important thing is not the press that they receive (or don't receive as it were) but that those things do happen. Goodness rarely grabs headlines and that is a sad statement about not only the press, but us as a society.

Come on Punch. You missed an opportunity here to mention pending sanctions. You are really slipping dude.

You really are good at playing the victim. You should hang out with Jordy. It seems like he attracts those kinds. I know you love chasing those jerseys too, pal, so chase away.

I have good things to say about the Griz football players. A significant number of past players are good friends of mine too. It's too bad it is so damn hard to say the same about most of the fans.

Don't get all ass hurt because the king of all trolls got trolled. You sound so defensive and whiny. BTW - to be a jersey chaser you would likely have to live in Missoula or a close proximity. Unfortunately, I do not have that luxury. Once again your posting slop. You should see if you can be a guest reporter for the Missoulian. They don't care much about facts either

Mods, can we please split Punch's and FTG's smack to the Bench so this thread can reflect what it should: The great work being done by UM athletes? Evidently, some idiotic cat fans can't figure out that there is an appropriate spot for the crap they spew.

So far Punch has had more good to say about our players in this thread than you have.

Please.

Look, Punch annoys me as much as the next guy, but what I said was true. You can even go back and look at all the posts, he's had more good to say about our players in this thread than you have. Don't ignore the facts.

Really? You think that was smack by pointing out the obvious. Look at the numbers, look at all the incidents over the last 10 years, then look at the hours that they donate, probably a 1 to 1 ratio for every hour the spend in the community there is one arrest or incidents that have happend.

Or did someone misinform them and say every hour you spend in Jail will go toward your Community Service Hours, by the looks 242, sounds about right.

I don't really need to go back and look at the posts. I typed them after all. For those who give a shit and keep score like PT evidently does, I complimented the Griz players in two specific posts. I'll credit Jerry Punk with one, assuming you ignore that 9/10 of the same post was pure shit smack. Don't ignore the facts.

that's great, but this is actually an area we need to pick up the pace a little bit. either that or we're not tracking this stuff properly. this is from last year, but the only teams we were ahead of were two teams that didn't do anything. we only had 242 hours department-wide.

Doesn't that speak more to the generosity of Griz fans?

No. It speaks to the general shitty quality of Missoula residents who believe they live in a bubble of perfection. In many a Missoulian's mind, the economy is perfect, the air quality is pristine, and the rest of the world doesn't come close to rivalling this great American city.

you're an idiot...it's about 33% of residents of Missoula that believe that, they're just louder than the rest of us.

BW thanks for sharing this. I was not going to comment. I got to thinking, it is time our fan base do our best to focus on the good news when there is some off the field. My thanks and appreciate go out to these GRIZ, and every GRIZ that keeps out of trouble. Thank you with all my GRIZ heart.

The reason the bad shit is more talked about is because the opinions can be more diverse. It is harder to dispute and argue good things when they are fact.

With that said, I challenge every egrizzers to set the standard for GRIZNATION and show your appreciation in this tread, and have this positive thread be the most active thread on EGRIZ by the end of this weekend. Even just saying "Thank you" will accomplish this. Let the team know how much good deeds are appreciated. Come on EGRIZ, set the tone for GRIZNATION!!! After that, shove this and all good thread right up Florio's.....Florio (ass). Show here what kind of good EGRIZ does, along with our GRIZ players!!!!!!!!

What better justice to her and the Missoulian?
