Some Griz fans panic over pre-season poll

I think that most coaches aren't into excuses as much as we fans are. UM under performed their expectations last year primarily by losing to UI at home. Losing on the road to a couple of other good teams didn't hurt as much as losing in a complete blowout to the Bobs. The NDSU loss didn't matter one iota. Losing at home to the spray painters put a cloud over the whole season. You have to protect your home turf. :thumb:

Avoiding my question, huh?
I can't really speak about the SS game, but against Weber it would have made no difference. No QB can do much with their butt on the ground or defenders in their face all game long and I don't believe his running ability would have mattered enough to change the outcome of that game.

Does that answer your question any better?

Here is the stat line for that game:

Total yards -- UM114, WSU 345
Pass yards -- UM 72, WSU 153
Rush yards -- UM 42, WSU 192
First Downs -- UM 10, WSU 18

The score was much closer.

How do you feel about the bad snaps winning the game for MSU against Weber? Weebs manhandled the Bobs in that game. I remember watching it on my phone at COTA in disbelief. Weebs was the better team to literally any objective observer, but just couldn’t longsnap the ball. What a gift!

At first I just felt bad for the long snapper. It was amazing that we were still in that game at all. I wasn't upset by the loss. Sac beat us by 3 points. I was a little more peaved at that one. All in all we had a good season. Could have been better if the ball bounce our way a few more times, but that is how sports go. You try to learn from your defeats and your wins. I'm just glad we get MSU early and at our place this year. I'm also a little happy that we avoided playing the Griz this year. I think teams need to look out for a Grizly bear with a chip on his shoulder. I think that MSU willo get the brunt of that.

You proved my point. With more offense from Johnson, Griz would have won easily.

What game were you watching? Total yards 487 vs 338 MSU. TOP 37.45 vs 22:15 MSU. First downs 25 to 19, again MSU. Weber rushed for 71 yards in 41 attempts, so I guess that's some real manhandling there. They did pass for more yards, 151 vs 140. Weber scored on 2 early special team returns for td's. They score again after a broken pass play early in the second quarter. After that they were pummeled until late in the 4th quarter.

Wild. I would’ve been so mad that my favorite team just threw a game away on long snapping when we were clearly the better team. I’m glad you weren’t too bummed about it, though, for whatever reason that might be.

They looked way better than the Bobs. Definitely would’ve won going away but-for the gifts. Four of them, right? Eight points, four new possessions, won by five?

Weebs long snapper was a joke. Went for the world's record in whatever it was called. It'll be a long time before that record is broken.

Cats were never in real danger of losing that game, Cats don't lose at home. The four snaps thing was super weird, but had that not happened, Cats would have just found other ways to get points on the board. That's what they do. Also, long snaps were likely due to his fear of Cat defenders coming down on him, similar to your story about McKay vs griz defenders.

Nah, without the gifts, the lesser team would’ve lost. Simple math. Easy to see.

I don’t recall telling a story about the other guy. Was he a LB?

Aaaand then, when the playoff Gods shined on Weber and let them play MSU again, to redeem themselves and prove the first game was a gift, but MSU beat them again, another fluke? Nah, Cats were the best team in the conference last year, and the year before that, and probably the year before that, and for sure this year.

Hard disagree. Bobs were very fortunate last year in the regular season, and the season before in the playoff draw after getting piss-pounded by the Griz. Hell, given the program coaching culture that has come to light, the FFGPTB makes more sense.

Or Britt. Our offense lacked any sort of inspiration against Weber. Coaching staff has to eat that loss.

Britt showed he didn’t have it. That’s why he’s was
3d team in the spring at NAU even with their starting qb to portal.

Those are awesome numbers and a great argument for the CAT board. You a little bored tonight? Is there a CAT board?

Why did the coaches recruit him then? Are they that bad at judging talent?

That was the year that Vidlak verbally committed to the Griz and then decommitted after he got an offer from Oregon State. So the coaches had to find a different quarterback. Enter Britt.

Y'all act like you never had to take the slightly strange drama and choir girl to the dance because the head cheerleader that you wanted to take turned you down. Sometimes you get what you want. Sometimes you get second best. (Although It's my contention that the weird drama girl would prove to be better in the long run because at least you'd have an interesting relationship. Beautiful, vain, and vapid cheerleaders are a dime a dozen. But that's not football.)

There's clearly a novel in there. Excellently phrased.
