So who goes to the playoffs from the Big Sky?

Regarding possible seeding of Big Sky teams;

1) With their third loss, the bobcats now have virtually no hope of any seeding.
2) If they win out E. WA is certainly a 1 to 4 seed, or even with a loss a likely #5-8.
3) By winning out N. Arizona & Montana are both contenders for a #5-8 seed.
Though neither team should expect a seed if they pick up another loss.
4) Finally, So. Utah has no chance for a seed even if they win out.

IF ND State & E. WA are among the seeded teams...
A) It is highly likely first round brackets will have two Big Sky teams poised to advance to those two schools (if the Big Sky teams win their 1st round games).

B) Since the teams never met this year, the committee might intentionally place (an unseeded) No. Arizona with a potential 2nd round game in Cheney.

C) I doubt they care about the bobcat's buyout but it wouldn't be unexpected to see them paired with a potential 2nd round game in Fargo.

D) If there is another seeded (# 5 to 8) Big Sky team, they'd probably see brackets sending a Southland team (or possibly S. Dakota St) for a potential 2nd round game (McNeese, Sam Houston, and SE Louisiana are all probably IN, and at least two won't be seeded).

Conversely, an unseeded Montana, or another Big Sky playoff team, would likely be bracketed for a potential 2nd round game at a seeded Southland team (if there is one).

Of course the Committee's seeding will be affected by how other teams around the nation do. Yet the key for our Big Sky teams is just "Win baby win!". If our teams take care of business we should have two teams seeded, and two more in the playoffs. Go Griz.

For what it's worth:

..."Let's peg these 11 teams as conference champions which will receive automatic bids: Bethune-Cookman, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga (but Samford is still a possibility), Eastern Illinois, Eastern Washington, Lehigh (although Colgate could win the bid next Saturday), Maine, North Dakota State, Northeast Conference (yeah, we refuse to pick a team), San Diego and Southeastern Louisiana.

Let's pencil in these teams for at-large bids: Montana, Montana State, Northern Arizona, Coastal Carolina, Towson, Youngstown State, Fordham, McNeese State and Sam Houston State. That's nine of the 13 spots.

Now, with four spots remaining, here are the legitimate possibilities: Southern Utah from the Big Sky; William & Mary, Delaware, New Hampshire and James Madison from CAA Football; South Carolina State from the MEAC; South Dakota State from the Missouri Valley; Tennessee State, Jacksonville State and UT Martin from the Ohio Valley; and Samford and Wofford from the Southern Conference. You need vision for this, but we'll go with William & Mary, South Dakota State, Tennessee State and Samford."...

Cal Poly is the best #36 team in the nation. 5-5 record. Two of the losses were to FBS teams (one was a close loss with Fresno State). Substitute those two games with Monmouth and SFA, and you are looking at a 7-3 record. 8-2 if field goal is not blocked vs Griz. They only lost by 4 to NAU. Cal Poly is now 4-2 in Big Sky.

Could they upset EWU this weekend? Maybe so, and I don't really know if it would be an upset.

I think Southern Utah splits and steals a playoff spot from MSU or NAU

Ha! How sweet would it be if SUU beats the Cats, we beat Weber, then beat the Cats in Bozeman not only humiliating them there again, but knocking them out of any post season play? That could very well happen, depending on which teams "show up" the next two weeks. I dont see EWU losing again until we meet them in the semis. NAU and SUU, welcome to the dance - now make some noise for the sake of the BSC would ya ?
