I have no clue who will be showing this game. Any NorCal Griz fans that can give me some ideas/tips/pointers?

Oh oh, a pm...beware Brint, I doubt that any SF steam room will have the Griz on a big screen TV... :?

HA! $10 says BW wakes up on a curbside in the Castro District wearing nothing but a sailors cap and a smile.

ha, ha, indeed.

in 1906, after the earthquake and fire had leveled chinatown, the city fathers tried to funnel their chinese racism into an effort to move chinatown away from its current location to the southern-most boundry of the city. sorta like moving wash-griz to ronan. but in the fight to save and rebuild their small enclave, the chinese had a curious and powerful ally--tourists. it was guys like you with eighth-grade minds and prurient fascinations with exotic women and opium dens who came in droves and poured millions of tourist bucks into the local economy. money talked, the city fathers listened, chinatown stayed put.

so it is today. i know few locals who ever go to chinatown, fisherman's wharf or the castro. those are just tourist traps as far as we're concerned. but as the tourist agency proclaims,
"hey, boys, get your rocks off!"

I don't think I'd throw the Castro into that group. It has some of the better restaurants in town and it's central location with regards to public transit and the city itself makes it sometimes unavoidable. I don't recommend going when the forecast calls for 80 degrees and sunshine, though.

well, they can't get the game at ricky's. wow. montana officials oughta look into this, cause this is really short-sighted--or in the case of today's game, no-sighted. griz nation is built around large groups gathering at sports bars throughout the country to watch these games. for those of us who don't live in missoula, this has become a tradition going back a generation, as eagerly anticipated every week as tail-gating for those of you in montana. this is how you keep the spirit of montana and griz football alive in the rest of the universe. i just got an appeal for money from the griz athletic program. i'm inclined to say, moments before a game i'd hoped to see all week, screw you guys. get back to me when you've quit depriving me of being around people i enjoy, and a tradition i treasure. fix this!!

If all else fails there's a slew of bars in Cow Hollow. From VanNess Avenue stroll west on Lombard Street. Gotta think you'd find an accommodating bartender before too long... :thumb:

citay: Take a proactive approach as we first did in Denver in 1986. Solicit a prospective watering hole as to their interest in hosting X number of folks then ask the alumni association if they'll mail an inquiry to alums in the area. Hopefully Bill Johnston will be as accommodating as Sheila Stearns was to our efforts back then. The Denver group has progressed from several dozen attendees to more than 1,200 (for Griz-Cats) as word has spread and the gatherings have moved successively thru four different - and larger - venues... Carpe Diem! :thumb:
