So What Changes?

The past 10 games are over and this is it !!! If Dan Moore plays with up to 90% + movement it will be huge ! There is little film out on him this year, meaning preparation is brutal. Get Kemp an extra 5 touches in the game plan. Also, put Kemp on kick and punt return as the lead returner. Defense...oooohhhhh. Practice stripping the ball 20 minutes extra for the next 8 practices. Look what it's doing for the Chicago Bears D...(they practice this maneuver 20 extra minutes as a unit) Maybe extra DEEP ball practice for corners and safeties. Someone is gonna have to make a play! These changes are reasonable at this time...

I hope they do add 40 minutes to each practice, especially with the NCAA already snooping around, they will be able to ad another violation to the list
I was in 100's of college practices... plenty of time to work in new stuff and get the cafeteria before 6:00. You keep working the scat keyboard with ONE hand...Z. :rule:

You are aware that the NCAA limits how many hours of practice a team can have and that you have a NCAA compliance officer that will be watching this, I mean if she is checking on hotdogs given away in the tailgate, I am sure she is looking at other NCAA restrictions that could cost you later if violated.

Remember you were suggesting EXTRA time spent in practice, as long as yo keep under the NCAA limits and cut out other practice time its fine, but you cant add to your time.

The Griz need Dan Moore in the lineup badly if they want to beat the Cats. He would add some much needed consistency to the Griz offensive attack. Dan would allow the Griz to limit the amount of negative in the run game. Without Dan your offense is as noted earlier bust..bust..boom.

Another help would be finding a way to get pressure with just your front four and not rely your overload blitzes that you are famous for. It leaves you guys open to big pass plays against your secondary (ranked last in the Big Sky in pass defense).

Cat Griz is usually decided by who when in the trenches on both sides of the ball and it should be a heck of a battle.

I'm new here and I'm going to keep my comments brief.(apologies if I'm asking you to mind read)... Tully and Hermanson are beyond help in practice with footwork so it's a waste now. DEEP ball practice! I love Dennard at corner...talented, aggressive, and reminds me of Tru. Stripping...DEEP ball practice! I like Bleskin as a posession guy but I don't see him as a +40 threat. Our secondary will decide this if Dan Moore doesn't...I.M.O. In summary...REMOVE SOME FOOTWORK...ADD DEEP BALL + STRIPPING.

I assume that you are aware that of the top 6 defenses in the BSC you have played only 1 and in scoring offense you are 5th

Nope, as usual, what you just said is incorrect. UM had played the no. 1 and no. 3 Scoring Defenses (NAU and EWU), and the nos. 2 and 3 defenses measured by Total Defense (NAU and EWU).

By contrast, the Cats have played only 1 of the top defenses (no. 3 EWU). The Cats have played nos. 12, 11, 9, 8 and 7 defenses, measured by Total Defense.

Wow PR, thanks for the update now why are we 5 & 5??

Because we don't have our qb and some bad bounces earlier in the season. With our qb, we're 10-0 and contending for the national championship. Without the Irish lad, MSU isn't even .500. I'm thinking we have a good shot at beating the Cats. In fact, I'm predicting a victory.

Wow. That is one of the dumbest things I've read on here... and that is saying something. So now JJ is worth an extra 5 wins (I thought it was only three?), and with him you'd be competing for the National Championship? Even with your brain dead coaching staff bumbling through the season? That would really be something. Keep dreaming.

P.S. Oh, and of course you're predicting a griz victory... just like you predicted that BD didn't rape that chick. WRONG!

Like with all quality opponent's you have to pick what you want to take away and then try to avoid any major mistakes on what you are going to concede from a defensive perspective. With the talent at the top of the BSC this year you simply are not going to shut anyone down completely. Obviously the Griz downfall this year has been the pass coverage. That is no secret. But in the Griz-Cat matchup I think the emphasis has to be controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The other key is to control the 4th quarter from start to finish.

Offensively the Griz need to play even more ball control. This will be much easier to do if Dan Moore can play, but if he can't Joey Counts will have to have a big game. Counts and Kemp are offensive wildcards since neither has played a whole lot this year. I particularly like the way Counts has been able to catch the ball out of the backfield after a quick delay block. I also think that the Grizzlies need to use Hardy more. Obviously, when they get the chance in the Red Zone they have to score touchdowns. Keeping our offense on the field is the best defense we can employ!

Having said that, I think increasing pressure at the line of scrimmage is the best option for the defense. While MSU has shown great balance on offense this year it appears to me that it is an offense that for the first 3 quarters would rather run the ball. If that is taken away and the Cats are made more one dimensional I think they are vulnerable. And again, it goes without saying that the secondary has to improve both it's coverage and it's tackling.

The biggest key in my opinion is for the Grizzlies to win the 4th quarter. Of the 5 losses that the Grizzlies have had, 4 of them have come within the last 5 + minutes of the game. Conversely the Cat's have won several games this year in the 4th quarter in come from behind scenario's. The Griz at times have appeared to play not to lose, rather than to go out and win. If the Griz control the 4th quarter they will win the game.

Sustain drives! What is needed is good head coaching. But old Mick is doing the best he can.

All the coaches are new at their positions. Lots of young players. Frosh and Soph QBs. Loose defense in the back......I mean loose!

The cats lose to us they would have to admit they choke in any big game. That has been their MO.

Dave Dickenson played ball control offense and had countless sustained drives. And best of all, it wasn't with a boring power running game. There are different ways to skin that cat. (So to speak.)
