Fair enough. Everyone walks a different path through life. :thumb:GrizLA said:I lived in Calif for over 50 years and can tell you that most SoCalifornians are from other states and nations and are people who basically rejected the old ways and can recreate their life anyway they want in any way as long as it doesn't bother anyone. I believe tolerance in Calif is a way of life that many people in other states don't want or simply are envious of the climate, the creativity, the coast, the mountains, the deserts and the beautiful places in the Redwoods, the far north (which resembles western Alberta) and the diversity of peoples here. I love it when I return for two months and miss it when I go back to S. Carolina. Politically, it is split down the middle geographically but the very young and liberal live along the coast and the extreme far right that thinks the world is going to end soon in violence live in the deserts and NE near Mormon country. All in all, Calif is a unique state. I guess I am biased as I came here with absolutely nothing and at age 55 sold my business and retired when I was still able to do the things I thought were important. Now, at 73, I don't regret it and I'm grateful to the Golden State for the opportunities it gives everyone willing to forget the negatives and achieve whatever you are capable of or want. In Calif. there was no one who said 'you can't do that".SaskGriz said:CDAGRIZ said:I know you all hate the social climate, but the actual climate in coastal Southern California is tops on the planet if you ask me. I sometimes go months without AC or heat. I swear. It's been kind of cold lately, but it's honestly between 65 and 75 around the clock for much of the year. My in-laws live inland, Riverside County, and that might as well be another planet.
Okay I will play along. What is it about "the social climate" of California that Egrizers' would hate? As a Canadian I don't know much about the state, other than it's got more people than my country does. One of my sisters lived in Oakland for about 20 years but I have to confess I only made it down for her graduation and wedding.

Strange as it might be, I love the swamps and history of Carolina as much as the desert of California. I am blessed that I can do both but I never forget my Butte upbringing.cclarkblues said:GrizLA said:I lived in Calif for over 50 years and can tell you that most SoCalifornians are from other states and nations and are people who basically rejected the old ways and can recreate their life anyway they want in any way as long as it doesn't bother anyone. Why did you decide to go bi-coastal?
