Simis to WR

also remember sims being a past qb in the system knows all the routes by all the receivers on any called play which makes him very versatile and can throw the football on specific plays called....also being the son of a coach if I recall correctly, so has been around the game his whole life and has that savvy that cannot be taught but must be caught....imo this makes him very logical and potentially valuable person to have a the receiver position...

He can succeed in this position and there's a lot of possibilities for him to succeed in various formations and plays.
He 'can' and there are 'possibilities ' but let's be honest this isn't good for Simis. It isn't like Stitt is telling him "we love you at QB, but we need you at WR!" This is Stitt telling Simis he's not good enough and there's not room for him in the QB rotation.

He isn't and there's not.

Apparently Stitt likes what he brings to the team though and is willing to work him into another position, that says something about Simis. Hope it goes well.

Can you say "reverse pass?"

Heck ya!

What I love to see, in addition to that, is the double bubble (not chewing gum, although that is delicious) screen pass play. Instead of going trips to the field, I like going trailor to the field in 10 personnel formation-wise. The inside slot receiver steps back and receives the quick pass behind the line of scrimmage from the QB. The outside X receiver looks like he is down blocking/stock blocking on the inside strong safety. The field CB reads bubble screen and flies up to the ball. But as the X receiver nears the strong safety, he then breaks off his slant and turns it into a go route up-field, leaving both defenders out of position (who are aggressively keying on the inside slot receiver with the ball). The slot then has a wide-open X with nobody within a country mile of him to loft the ball to for an easy touchdown. Gold Jerry, pure gold!

Right. What us armchair QB's call the double pass. :D

Yeah. :D

Our coach thought he had a sense of humor... and he kind of did, since that name (picture in my head of the gum) has stuck with me all these years.

You should see the play we called "Bazooka". http://bit.ly/1Ttwj6W

Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, and Biomechanics background.

My background's in astrology and parapsychology.

Huh. Mine is in cannabis cultivation and poultry science. From my perspective, if Simis can learn to run more like a chicken (ideally a Leghorn or a Rhode Island Red) and/or the dbs are stoned, he'll do well.
Hahaha!!

Josh Paffhausen switched when Ah Yat got the nod. That worked out well.

True, but I always thought Paffer was the better QB

Ah Yat did play well and threw for a boatload of yards, with that roundhouse motion, but Paffer could've produced similar numbers and wins at QB

Josh was the better athlete IMO -- perhaps a matter of best combination of players, since Ah Yat couldn't hold Paffer's jock at another skill position. Maybe I'm just being a Bulldog homer, I played with both of Josh's brothers.

Regardless, Simis, like Paffhausen, willing to switch to WR to help the team with a good attitude goes a long way for them as men as well as the team.
Josh was a better overall athlete. A better QB in the pocket? not hardly... :egriz:

Simis could be the new "Ben Roberts" type of receiver. He's a good athlete and he knows the offense. Give 'em hell, Makena!
Ben Roberts? Talk about a kick to the nuts. M.S. couldn't carry Ben's jock strap on a good day. Ben Roberts was probably the best "athlete' on the entire f.....g team last year. Looks like many of you f...s are bored and are saying stupid sh!t. Grab your umbrella.. :egriz: go look at some of his plays in PAC 12 baseball.

Ursa...in the horse race of football heads you aren't in the field of view at the finish line. Smart asses? You rank quite high! Any comment from you is merely a mosquito off of my windshield  Faking to be a football head isn't in your nerd belt.. :egriz: flick off d-bag

While I hope for the best, I would prepare for the worst. He does not have the fluid hip movements that you see in top level receivers. I really don't see him being on the field. I would love him to prove me wrong, but I don't see it.
Great post! Scrambling away from a fat defensive tackle downfield into a vacated area where the linebacker "schemed" to another area carries NO weight. I watched the kid from Loyola make some acrobatic plays 2 years ago and he couldn't get his jock wet last year. (dog house or not) Jamaal, Big Ben, and Ellis are gone, as is their incredible athletic talent. Keeping your expectations as a decent possession guy would be reasonable... :egriz:

I think you need to: 1) calm down; 2) drink a beer; 3)reread AWF's post. He wasn't comparing the two athletically.

Oh, I get it! You're trying to be the poor man's Angry Man.

I'm sorry but It's not going to work for you. You need true disappointment, desperation and shame that can only be slowly developed through 30 years of program failure.

You're no Angry Man.

Possession receiver for sure, he's not going to "shock-n-awe" any defensive backs. But he's a good athlete, a competitor, and can help I believe. I'll be happy if he can contribute.

Obviously not the same scale but worked pretty well for Julian Edelman. I like this guy being a team player and willing to accept a role, also it leaves the option for some WR throws and other trickery.
Yeah, Edelman played QB at Kent state. He was drafted as a special teams returner and receiver. I'm not seeing the comparison here even with a macro view. Tebow seems more comparable after starting at qb and being asked to play TE.... :egriz: Looking forward to the "one or two" wr pass - pass attempts next year

+1. If he can go over the middle and take shots while holding on to the football, it could create his role on the team... :egriz:

Another assholish post by Rim Job. What were the odds?

I actually happen to lean more toward MS not making a big impact in the receiving corps but I would love to be surprised. The issue I have is how you post your opinions. No need to be an ass to a fellow Griz fan.

Here are two examples of how G4Live and AZGrizfan disagreed with another post about the same kid yet were not all douchey . . .

Contrast the difference and then ask yourself if this could be the reason you have no friends.

Do you think Stitt should just cut Simis then?
