Simis to WR

Love seeing a player willing to move positions rather than leaving the program. Good to see he is buying what Stitt is selling. Credit to Stitt for giving him the option. Getting that option says a lot of Simis as a player and person. Stitt does not mess around and is not afraid to cut ties with players who do not fit what he wants in a GRIZ, on and off the field.

This move surely helps with WR depth, and is a good sign that QB depth is solid. There is a lot of of opportunity for WR playing time. Simis does have the advantage of knowing what the QB is seeing. It will be fun to see what he can do with the ball. He was damn fun to watch run the ball from the QB position. He is a damn good athlete. He is also a big WR that can take hits.

Good luck Makena with this. I hope to see you be in the WR rotation this season.

Obviously not the same scale but worked pretty well for Julian Edelman. I like this guy being a team player and willing to accept a role, also it leaves the option for some WR throws and other trickery.

While I hope for the best, I would prepare for the worst. He does not have the fluid hip movements that you see in top level receivers. I really don't see him being on the field. I would love him to prove me wrong, but I don't see it.

Some spring rhumba lessons would help a lot...

Huh. Mine is in cannabis cultivation and poultry science. From my perspective, if Simis can learn to run more like a chicken (ideally a Leghorn or a Rhode Island Red) and/or the dbs are stoned, he'll do well.

This is a great point, and I would expect nothing less from you.
As a long-time, freelance strategic gastrology analyst/therapist, I'm wondering if the answer isn't in the pre-game meal. If Simis can get all the hot dogs he can eat before the game, the impeding elimination of methane could give him the extra speed he needs, thereby rendering his restrictive hip movements moot. I've seen it work in caribou races. Many so-called "scientists" discount my discipline, but, under the supervision of a trained professional, methane propulsion can be a real factor in speed-based sporting applications.

I see what you're saying; especially (and literally) after some wicky stick. Never ridden a caribou before...

Have you watched him run a lot of routes to make that assessment? :? :?
He doesn't pivot well around his spine either so he certainly couldn't be a good golfer. Nor does two step very well so don't expect him to be on Dancing with the Stars. The guy should stick with soccer where all you have to do is run around and kick things. He could probably do that. Seriously, don't you just love a critique based on ZERO real information?

What's the point of this board if you can't state your own opinion or prediction on what will happen. He didn't bash and degrade the kid. He based his opinion on what he has seen on the field already. I tend to agree with him. Hope he proves me wrong. I think he will contribute here and there, but not start and probably contribute less as the season progresses.

I'm glad that he's on the team still. Seems like an intelligent guy, and I think that players/people like him contribute a lot of important components to the team that we don't see in statistics.

Don't disagree one bit but re-read his statement. It wasn't a prediction and wasn't stated as an opinion. It was presented as fact. If it was intended to be an opinion it would have had an iota of credibility if even a shred of evidence exists to support his "theory". My opinion is that you are not a really bright person. I assume that having never met then you are ok with my opinion, right?

Haha, e-griz isn't even a football message board anymore. It's a place for grown men to act like 16 year old girls hiding behind screen names.

MS is an excellent athlete and any coach wants to get his excellent athletes on the field somehow. Maybe Makena's heart really wasn't in being a QB? Maybe he'd rather play as a WR for the Griz than transfer anywhere else? If so I commend his commitment to the team. I see this as a win-win and I look forward to seeing MS tear it up at WR.

I agree, he looks like a Ben Roberts kind of guy, big and can run well and then not afraid to take the contact.

Yeah, supporting others who make snap judgments based on no information is pretty much what I would expect from a 16 year old girl so I have to agree with you.

So 25 years of experience plus my advanced education received at the University of Montana coupled with my observations of his gait, running, and movement patterns is no information? I am fine if that is your opinion. That is all my post was meant to be.

I will clarify. It is my OPINION that his movement patterns and his many years training as a quarterback and not a receiver do not translate well into him making the transition to much playing time as a receiver, especially given all the outstanding young talent he has to compete against that have numerous years training as receivers. It is my PREDICTION that he will not make a significant impact as a receiver. Again, I would love to come here and admit I am wrong. I am not to proud to do that. Wouldn't even be the first time I was wrong today. Bookmark it and PM me if it happens. I will start a new thread stating I was wrong.

 Thanks for the clarification. :D

I thought the same thing about Wilson's move to DT last year....and that move worked out OK. Given Stitt's (short) history, I don't believe he'd encourage a move to WR unless he thought the kid could contribute...Stitt doesn't seem to be one who wants to waste scholarships....
