Reece Carlson is a good catch. MD went after him early and stayed with it (in fact was there last week. Reece is an incredible kid with many family connections to OSU and their program and was recruited too late there (prefered walk-on I believe) He is the kind of kid we are looking for. He verbaled early and made it clear to others coming he had made his decision, and it was the final word. BTW it was the facilities and strength program (the team) that drew him here (and MD)

Mission Viejo, CA
6-2, 274lbs.

First Team All-League in 2012, earning All-Pac 5 Division and Al-CIF honors. First Team All- CIF honors. . . First team All-State by Max Preps in 2012. . . 40 tackles, 14 sacks as a senior.

A lot of 2012 honors, could be a mistake and they ment to say 2013. Looks like a solid prospect.

Listed as a 3 star. . . offers from Arizona State and Cincinnati. . . Class of 2013 in highschool not 2014 so maybe he took a year off of football and fell into our hands? Committed to AZ. State but took a year off and went to prep school-academics.

I hate to hyperbolize a kid I've known about for less than an hour, but strictly based on high school film, Marino's is the best I've seen in seven years covering the FCS and recruiting. And, like 99 said, it's not even close.

I thought Prevost was great. But you can see why he's FCS. He's a tweener. This dude is a meat truck with absurd speed. His film is like watching the 90s movie "the Program" with all the steroids and unrealistic hits. Except his hits are real. Man alive, I've watched his tape three times already! Somebody help me!

I am not going to pile on. I hope all is well with the guy and nothing bad happens, but you have to expect this on a fan message board, especially with all the grief given to the griz over the past 3 years about off the field behavior. Truth is, this conversation would be going exactly the same way it is now except likely worse if the Griz had picked him up.

And PTgrizzly, I would not wan't him on my team. Given the negative press the U has had over he past few years, I would not invite that type of publicity to my team. Granted MSU is further removed from their off the field issues, but it is still too close for me. He is an intriguing talent for sure, but the potential cost/benefit analysis doesn't work for me.

Reese, Rassmussen and Alex Thomas are the biggest gets in this class. I also think the Griz' ability to get a kid like Mertes to accept a preferred walkon is pretty impressive.

How different would this group look with Hawkins Mann, Keenan Curran, A.J. Hotchkins, Kia Ross and Morgan Richey? All except Richey and Curran were verbal commits at one time, and the other two were strongly on the fence with the Griz. So the Griz didn't land five of probably the top 10 guys on their board. The three above, as well as Reece Carlson were probably also in the Top 10.
