Here is the other surprise signed by MSU today: Garrett Marino 6-2 274 Mission Viejo, CA.
Here is what Colter had to say about him:

I hate to hyperbolize a kid I've known about for less than an hour, but strictly based on high school film, Marino's is the best I've seen in seven years covering the FCS and recruiting. And, like 99 said, it's not even close.

I thought Prevost was great. But you can see why he's FCS. He's a tweener. This dude is a meat truck with absurd speed. His film is like watching the 90s movie "the Program" with all the steroids and unrealistic hits. Except his hits are real. Man alive, I've watched his tape three times already! Somebody help me!

Sounds like Colter needs to go rub one out....
f***[*] awesome!!

 yep, I think 420 nailed the line of the day.
Without a doubt! Colter Nuance needs some alone time and a sock...

I've got a used (but still functional) fleshlight I could donate to the Bobcat Beater. Hell, I'll even stencil in "Meat Truck" on the side for free and send it to Colter.

I don't believe in grading a recruiting class until their time is done as GRIZ. With that said, from 1 time through the short videos, here are some observations.

Buss- Looks like a very good athlete. I see him getting to 230 to 240 lbs. It may take him a few years before he contributes. I see him as a versatile athletic LB.

Weyer- I wish the video could have been better. Looks like he has a great arm with a smooth throwing motion. Looks like he knows how to put touch on this throws too. As a passer, he looks very sound.

Swartz- Very good instincts, good feet, very balanced, and good motor. Hard to tell his speed or strength.

Carlson- I love his instincts, route running, and size. It would have been nice to see him have a QB who could get him the ball easier (like Weyer). I liked what I saw of his video.

Alex Thomas- My God, he is quick and relentless on defense. I see stud written all over him, physically at least. Lucky to have him as a recruit. He looks like a FBS player who got overlooked. A good candidate to not redshirt as a freshman.

Evan Epperly- Looks like a good athlete with good feet. I can see him being a better cover Safety than big hitter.

Shane Cochran- Not much to judge on his video, good size, good athlete. Another potential versatile LB without a major weakness. (I do hear good things about him though).

Hudson-Rasmussen- Why isn't he being recruited as a CB? I love his cover skills. Terrific feet and hands. If he stays at safety, I see him a rare cover safety. I like this kid a lot. Does he lack cover speed or what? I am asking because his cover skills impressed me that much. He looks like a true CB out there.

Reese- To everyone who said "The GRIZ are lucky to have kept him". You are right. This kid is a BCS talent. Great feet, always moving forward, very aware. Can play at 300 pretty easily from what I see. I see him as a 3 year starter, and possibly not redshirt this season, depending on how well his competition has improved in the off season. Barring injury he will be an All Conference to All American OL with NFL upside. I know that depends on his development. Very high ceiling for potential in this kid.

D'Alton- I wish they had more Defense video on him. Looks like he uses his hands well, good footwork. Not really sure from this video. Maybe someone more familiar with him can fill us in.

Davis- Too short of a video. He looks strong and good motor. Playing in CA is also a good sign he might be ready sooner than other FR.

Kack- Great size. I can see him knocking some defenders on their ass. Looks pretty strong. I think we should coin "PanKack" for his blocks though. Can he play LB or DE?

Miksch- Great size, athletic, good potential. Will be interesting to see how well he improves with coaching.

Stenseth- Again, why not more defense video? I can see he plays with attitude, good strength, great motor. I see a very good MLB in him. Looks like he will bring a lot of attitude back to this defense.

Tilleman- Needs some weight room for TE. Looks like he can get to 240 though. Quick off the ball. Looks to have solid hands, footwork, and balance. Hard to judge from the video.

Carl Johnson- Cannot evaluate anything on that video. Anyone care to chime in on him?

Richtmyer- Can we have him block in short yardage? Defenders don't shake him. Good balance, footwork, and athletic. I see a lot of upside in this kid. I have a great feeling about him.

Chadderdon- I see some LB in him too. Runs the ball well for FB. Good motor. It will be interesting to see if his best position FB. I'd try him at HB too, but we are pretty stacked there.

Clark- Good running skills, not much to go by for WR skills.

Foley- Looks like a steal at WR and good athlete. I can see him transitioning to DB as well. I like his open field and how his quickness in small areas.

Lyons- Please have this guy as a return man. Can you say Jefferson Heidelberger? Very impressed with this kid. Looks like he can play on either side of the ball.

Mann- Argh, we need more defensive highlights. Impressive athlete, which should transition well at Safety. Again, looks like he will be a solid cover guy based on athleticism. That is just a shot in the dark. Hard to tell how he will be as a Safety. I like his athleticism though.

Marrero- Great instincts, quick, and good motor. Reminds me of the Lebsock boys. I hope he can get to 225 lbs though.

Mertes- Another motor guy. He uses his body well in getting to the ball carrier and off blocks. Looks like he can play at 255 comfortably.

What stands out to me are the number of guys with motors and some attitude.
As for individuals, Thomas, Reese, Richtmyer, Lyons, Hudson-Rasmussen, and Mertes are guys that I really like. Thomas and Reese total studs, ready to play right now. I see very bright futures for those 2. Not saying the other's don't have bright futures. Those 2 just stand out to me.

Bring on the the naysayers and doubters who can only criticize someone for going out on the limb early.

Still no appearance of either Peter Brewer or Evan Defer on the Griz class lists in spite of a lot of evidence that they committed. I emailed Sundberg and he replied he didn't recognize the names. Not sure I believe that; could someone who does Facebook or Twitter check on these two guys?

I almost feel bad for AJ Hotchkins. Commits to the U, rescinds his commit, (I'm sure someone told him he would get a better offer at a bigger school), and he didn't sign with anyone yesterday. Hopefully, for his sake, he lands somewhere.

that does suck, but didn't we offer him? hard to feel too sorry for him. he should've committed here.

I did say "almost". His turning the screw moment came when his teammate at Tigard, Manu, signed with the Griz & he didn't sign with anyone...

David Reese is in 6'7 245

What happened to the 270 lb David Reese? :?

This: Reese, who is down to 250 pounds for basketball season, said he will be up to 290 or more before he steps on the field for the Grizzlies.

I can attest that in high school Chuck Mason and Chad Germer were no where near the 290+ weights that they played at during their time with the Griz. I'd be amazed if either were 220 their senior year of high school. Chris Dyk was also much lighter in high school. It's all about the frame and how dedicated they are in the weight room.

Dwan Edwards was 215 in HS, about 275 at Oregon St. and around 300 for his 11 years in the NFL.

Going the other direction, I wonder how much Scott Gragg weighs these days; he looks more like a retired NBA player than a retired NFL OT.

I can attest that I was MUCH lighter in high school than I am now. Has nothing to do with football, but still.. I am hoping to lose the baby weight from my wife having kids in the near future.
