I don’t have a problem with the limited amount of tickets available for Griz fans. It is - what it is. I completely agree with you on capping the resale value. It is strange though. Who pays $1,700 for a ticket in Montana? Probably not your hard working die hard Cat fan, which works in the favor of the Griz. The people buying the $1,700 tickets probably aren’t the ones who would be making a lot of noise rooting on their team. Instead, They may be looking for the waiter to take their order for a glass of Merlot. Not the Thomas trashcan type either. I seriously doubt a lot of tickets are going to move at that price point. Unfortunately, a lot of the Cat fans I spoke with this week are not going to the game because they can’t get tickets. They are the type of fan you want in the stadium. MSU might have missed on their strategy.

There's going to be a ton of fans who want to go to the game who can't, and most of it isn't because of scalpers. There's probably 40-50k people who want to go to a stadium that fits 21-22k. I have no respect for the scalpers either, but they would be there regardless of how MSU distributed the tickets. Some people are just going to be out to make a quick buck. It happened when we played in Missoula earlier this year too, obviously not to the same extreme, but different stakes at hand and less capacity will do that.

MSU is doing the exact thing every team has done in the playoffs. Visiting team is given 500 tickets. After that they're on their own.

MSU gives all season ticket holders the ability to REQUEST up to 4 additional tickets every game. This is a nice perk rewarding STH's that they always use on occasion, but REALLY use for big games. Had Cat griz been in Bozeman this year nearly every STH would have requested their 4.

Seeing what was on the horizon, as your messiah of a coach predicted after the first Cat-griz, they gave our STH's an opportunity to request 8 tickets instead of 4 tickets. This is to ensure that the most valuable fans of the fanbase can get more of OUR fans in the stadium. Doesn't mean we'll get what we requested, but at the very least it helps making sure it is Cat fans and not griz fans in the seats.

You can pretend that UM wouldn't do the exact same thing but it's not worth a discussion. They would. And they'd keep nearly all Cat fans out and in the process some of their very own griz fans would be left out as well.

You can call it high school Esque. But in the real world if there is no general admission, that means your program is doing a VERY good job.

I let my emotions get the best of me. I still like splitting the tickets even down the middle. When I am rational, and engage my adult brain, this makes sense.

Don’t disagree that scalping goes on at almost every game. The part I don’t agree with is the number of tickets per season ticket holder. That just seems egregious to me and promotes more scalping. Some season ticket holders will absolutely share and distribute to other fans at a fair price. Good on them. Others - not so much.

Yea your pearl clutching has become cliche concerning your big brother. Usually the go to for you is calling people weird. How come you haven't busted that one out in a while? Since you have no football knowledge to add you have to do something I guess. We all have our strengths and weaknesses.
 
Saw my neighbor last night. It was so awkward as we have been trying to avoid each other this week but kids’ bball made it inevitable.

He was a little more on edge than normal which is saying something as the dude makes coffee nervous. He was so pissed at MSdui and the ticket fiasco.

For the last game, he did not get his season ticket seats because he usually clicks on a button at the beginning of the playoffs which requests those seats for all playoff games. However, this year they changed that, he was supposed to request them individually, and the system tricked him (he’s a graduate of MSdui so not hard to do) and he only got the first game but not the second.

Then, he requested his 8 extra tickets for the Super Brawl but did not get any of those. He’s been a season ticket holder in the same 4 seats for 26 years. He said he has 26 “points” built up but it was still not enough. He is convinced the system was rigged to give only the richest fans, those with huge allotments of seats or suites, first dibs, and ignored the point system.

I’ve heard this twice now as another bub, who I would consider a “higher up”, said he requested all 8 but only got one SRO.

Thus, it’s even worse than we thought. Not only was there no public offering, but only the elite of the elite got a chance, and likely got more than the rest. This is consistent with the two idiots bragging on here. Ihatethecats said he got his 8 extras and he bragged about having like 20 season tickets and a suite. Similarly, that big dummy, bubcat99, said he got his 8 and he’s got a big lot of tix too.

Meanwhile, the hardworking folks, salt of the earth fans, are left out in the cold as the 1-percenters give pinky high fives to their California muckitymucks. Such a shame.
