just curious growler..did you watch the BSC championship game? or was that another one u missed? because FYI ward was solid but had 6 points in teh first half and u clamied he was the only reason we werent down by 15? if u didnt see the game why would u post something like that? and if you did see the game...well then your even more clueless than i thought

Have you ever played high school BB or above? I think we already know the answer to that one. Watching BB does not mean you understand the game. I coached the game for 5 years. Quit focusing on minutia to try to discredit me. It is obvious that you can not evaluate strengths and weaknesses of players. Do you have a man-crush on Derek?

I'm not trying to be a jerk. You and your buddy are calling me a jackass and worse just because I don't agree with all of the hyperbole about Selvig. And, for your info, there are MANY MORE Griz fans who agree with my evaluation of Selvig, in case you have not been reading the other threads on this topic! I have nothing against the kid. I gave him cudos for being a very good 3-point shooter WHEN HE SHOOTS WITH CONFIDENCE and stops hesitating, and pump-faking or dribbling the ball.

I keep hearing how good a rebounder he is. Hell, he's 4-6 inches taller than anyone else on the floor, he should be able to average 7 rebounds a freakin game! :roll:

i think it just boils down to you expecting more out of him and me being fine with his roll on this team...guess we arent going to see eye to eye on it..and it doesnt really matter if we do becuase regardless of what you or i think of this player...the griz have a great team

Kinda late in the season to worry about Selvig's abilities one way or the other, dontcha think? He is neither as bad as he often appears, nor as good as many here think. He is what he is and right now, he is part of a team that has one of the best records ever at UM and awaiting a fair seed in the NCAA tourney where, if they play like the did against Weber State, they can do some major upsetting....Selvig has finished his Missoula career, will graduate and do just fine. Next year, the Griz promise to be even better than this year! Stop the critique, the season is over, we have a championship TEAM....how bad is that?

He's not a prototypical post player. He doesn't hang around under the basket. Offensively he spends the vast majority of his minutes outside the arc. For all these reasons he's not going to get as many rebounds as a "back-to-the-basket" center. But, with all the basketball you've coached/watched/reffed, you already knew that, right? :roll:

I know you wouldn't want take time to look that up as it causes facts to get in the way of dogmatism. People that think seven footer should be rebounders are caught up in the seventies and eighties when there wasn't a three point line to stretch the defense and contribute more perimeter rebounds.

Another issues that isn't mentioned here is Selvig's role as pressbreaker of seeing over defense to make passes to move the ball down the court. For that among many is a reason the Griz are nearly impossible to press and most teams don't even try.

Growler is full of shite on this as are you. 2 of the top ten ncaa rebounders are 6'6" or less, 6 out the top 100 in the NBA are 6'6"r less , reach much.
