Yes, marceagfan5, some of US (me) are! That's why I'm now in Washington! :)

I'm one too.
(I grew up a Bobcat fan)

Go Eags!

Grew up in Montana as well...but I'll always root for the Eags over the Griz and Cats....still LOVE the State though and I visit all the time...

This will be the first game I will miss in several years, I felt the ticket price for the crappy facilities and the way the fans are treated in Cheney was reason enough to take this year off.
Just some tips for those that have not been there before.
1. Eat before you go in, there will not be food or drinks enough to go around and if you do leave at half time to get something you will miss most of the 3rd qt for standing in line to get food or drinks.
2. Don't try and bring in something because it will be thrown in the trash unless you walk back out and eat or drink it before you enter the field.
3. If you have water bottles make sure they have not been opened or those will not be allowed in, sorry but I'm not making this shit up.
4. Speaking of $hit there will only be one or two toilets there as well. unless you walk to the main gate area and there is one bathroom over there. Other than that the sound system sucks, and the field well that goes with out saying.
GO GRIZ

GO GRIZ

You sound like a really enjoyable person - can't believe you couldn't find a group of people to come to the game with...

Almost everything you said is incorrect and written without any idea of how things have changed between 2010 and now.

It's a Great Day to be an Eagle, he is just being bitter! It's ok for Montana to jack up ticket prices when EWU comes to Missoula, but when Montana comes to Cheney, were supposed to bend over backwards to make sure everything is perfect for them!

I agree that almost everything he said is not accurate, but I'm glad he feels that way because this way he'll stay away. It's Griz fans like this that are the reason for the animosity that is raised from other Big Sky teams and fans. There are dipsh*ts in every fan base, but to categorize all EWU fans as idiots just goes to show your part of that great Missoula club!

With all do respect to majority of Griz fans that aren't idiots, I hope we kick the shit out of the Griz this weekend because many in Griznation need another reality check!

For those Montana fans coming over to enjoy a great rivalry game, have a safe trip and enjoy the game!

GO EAGLES!!

I'm glad to hear that maybe those things have changed but that is how it was in 2010.
We sat amongst Eagle fans and had a good time two years ago in that regard but the facility needed a major upgrade to host a large crowd more than it needed that red turf. I think the end zones are cool, to bad the Griz could not find it enough two years ago.
Should be a backyard brawl!!!!
Hopefully will be back in two years.

This.

And unless it's homecoming or cat/Griz, I don't remember ticket prices being jacked up for any game. Guess I could be wrong though.

I'm glad to hear "Just Eastern" has made some improvements to their 8,700 permanent seat stadium. I heard you 'just" finished putting up your new scoreboard on Tuesday with its video screen that is 1/2 the size (not surprisingly) of WA Griz. I also heard that "just" yesterday you were ordered to take down a 500 seat temporary blecher due to safety concerns. That ought to make for some happy ticket-paying fans.

Seriously, the vast majority of Griz fans and BSC fans want to see your facilities improve and are happy people are finally showing up to watch your games. You guys play good football and deserve better fan support and facilities. Just not sure why you have to jump a guy who reports what his experience was in 2010 on his home school's football board. I'm sorry you're sensitive about your facilities. But why don't you keep it to yourself or bitch about it with the other 6 people on your own board. OR go volunteer with EAA and raise money to change things. I'm pretty sure it's not our fault your facilities are substandard and you should be thankful to those Griz that make the trip and pay the money to "Just Eastern" that helps to improve said facilities.

Look...our facilities have not been upgraded that much since 2010 and I can understand some of your concerns. Our new scoreboard will be up for the game Saturday, but as for the seating, it really hasn't changed. Everyone that supports Eastern wants the upgrades, wants new seating, the problem is we don't have enough support....yet. The national championship helped us and will hopefully propel us the next few years, but we aren't there yet. I understand the gripes from the Griz fans, but you have to understand, we are trying to get there, the Griz have a great thing going, Eastern is trying to get there but it will take some time and a lot more support than we currently have.

I think those of you that come will have a great time. No, the seating is not great, especially in the vistors section, but does it really matter for this game, in 2010 I don't think I, or anyone around me, sat down once.

One thing that we do have going for us...I bought my season tickets for the same price it would cost me to go to one Griz game....I'll take that any day of the week. We may not have great facilities yet, but we put a damn good product on the field at a damn good price.

The EWU/GRIZ game is always the best game of the year for us. Although we are not your biggest rival, you are ours and it is going to be a great game. Safe travels to everyone coming over Friday or Saturday.

Sorry we're not up to the all-mighty Griz standards in regards to seating, restrooms, and concessions. Give us a few years though; we're getting there. :)

As for the comment about the sounds system; on top of the new scoreboard are 8 speakers, with the output to bump a 30,000 seat stadium. I'm sure no one will have a problem hearing anything. :thumb:

As for sneaking in booze in coke bottles, flasks, etc... unless you're an idiot, it's not difficult. And here I thought Montana folks were pros at that sort of thing...

I do forget that your team does get the shaft in terms of local support and that is sad. We have many times watched the Spokane news stations KREM and KXLY only to see a very small report on EWU after they have exhausted most of the sports segment on Prep football and goat races. Don't forget, several years ago many of Griz Nation made the trek to Spokane to support EWU when your team was the only BSC in the playoffs, that takes class in my opinion!
As for my experience two years ago I did not embellish any of that. I was there with my wife and two boys ages 6 and 12, I did not think we were a threat of being drunks in the stands but that is how we were treated period!!.
We stopped by Subway and picked up a late lunch because our tailgate party two years earlier at the GSA pretty much got shut down and could not cook food for he tailgaters that weekend, and in fact the GSA made a mad dash to Subway to get subs for those fans that year. So remembering that two years ago we picked up lunch knowing full well that it was not easy to get served in a reasonable time or would miss about a qt of football. When we got to the gates the lady said very sharply "YOU ARE NOT BRINGING THAT IN HERE" I found it ironic because there were Subway signs scattered around in the stadium. So we had to gobble down $25.00 worth of subs in about ten minuets or throw them away.
We ate them and then preceded to get back in line only then to be told we could not bring in our Dansi water bottles because we had opened them while we wolfed down our sandwiches.
Glad to here its getting better.

Grizare, I don't know of too many stadiums that will allow you to bring outside food in ... It also doesn't take much imagination to think of the reason for the sealed container rule (no one would ever put something in to jazz up that coke or water, would they).

I hope we are able to upgrade our facilities just as your school did a couple of decades ago. It would make us much happier than you can imagine (unless you date back to the old Dornblazer days). In the meantime, we'll muddle along and somehow field a competitive team (which, given the facilities whose shortcoming you have so eloquently listed, is a pretty amazing accomplishment).

I'm not sure how successful our capital campaign will turn out. It's probably no coincidence that both UW and WSU have or are in the process of upgrading their football stadiums. The unfortunate fallout from that is even if no public money is used, the public perception is that enough money has been spent on stadiums. Add in the Seattle NBA/NHL arena issue and there's a lot of stadium fatigue statewide. Just another unfortunate side effect of not being the only sport in the state...

I've brought already-open water bottles or Nalgene ones into every Griz game at WaGriz for 20+ years, plus a variety of food products. Never once has any of it been confiscated or questioned, and, yes, they do search the backpack virtually every game.

Our family always brings sandwiches from the Good Food Store and water bottles to games at Wa-Griz. It's never a problem.

Then I stand corrected... I was used to stadiums at Notre Dame, Michigan State and various SEC schools where you could tailgate but not bring food or drink into the stadium. Most pro team facilities are that way as well. I guess that's a nice advantage to being in Montana and now that I know that I won't have to buy any of your concession food next trip! :thumb:
