Who is Rob O’Neill?
Graduated from Butte Central High School in 1994; joined the Navy at the recruiting center on Harrison Avenue in 1995.
For outstanding service during more than 400 combat missions, awarded two Silver Stars, four Bronze Stars with Valor, and other commendations.
Served as lead jumper on mission to rescue Capt. Richard Phillips, whose ship was taken hostage by Somali pirates in 2009 in the Indian Ocean. The Tom Hanks’ movie “Captain Phillips” is based on that incident.
Helped save Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, the only survivor in a failed mission to capture a Taliban leader. “Lone Survivor,” a film starring Mark Wahlberg, is based on those events
Master naval parachutist, having completed more than 1,000 jumps

Fox News is slated to formally reveal the identity of Osama bin Laden's killer in a two-part TV special -- "The Man who killed Usama Bin Laden" -- to air Nov. 11 and Nov. 12.
The TV cable network had this to say about the program on its website:
"The two-night presentation will feature an exclusive interview with the Navy SEAL who says he fired the shots that killed terrorist leader Usama Bin Laden. In the special, he describes the events leading up to and during the historical raid that took place on May 1st, 2011.
Revealing his identity and speaking out publicly for the first time, the Navy SEAL, also known as “The Shooter,” will share his story of training to be a member of America’s elite fighting force and explain his involvement in Operation Neptune Spear, the mission that killed Bin Laden."
The program will air 8 p.m. each day.

I have known Rob and his family for a very long time. I was very good friends with his older brother and have known Rob since he was quite young. He was a hell of a basketball player for Butte Central and I remember him as kind of a punk as a kid. I actually ran into him at the national championship game in a bar in Chattanooga when we played Villanova and introduced him to my wife and thanked him for his service He is a true Griz fan. Never realized he was part of the elite seal team 6, I am very proud and thankful for his service and sorry to hear about all that he has gone through. Not exactly sure why he has chosen to go this route but maybe it will shed some light on how we treat our veterans.
