FYI: In the FBS nation championship game, Clemson ran
99 plays -- 42 rushing and 57 passing. The rushing offense (with sacks, etc., of course) put up 91 yards. Alabama ran
66 plays and had 221 yards of rushing offense. And Clemson lost two fumbles versus none for Alabama. Return yardage (punts and KO) was pretty much a wash: Clemson about 25, 'Bama about 28. Overall, Clemson dominated TOP (34:44 to 25:16), had a healthy lead in total yards (511 to 376), and -- the stat that matters -- won 35-31. Pretty good, I'd say, for a "wonky" offense that ran more plays per game than the Griz, and gained more yards per game ... each playing their own level of competition.
