Sac/PSU game thread

No matter what anyone else does, if SAC wins one of two next week (@SUU and @NAU), they're the regular season champs.

Well, technically they would be the hosts for sure but would only guarantee a share of the crown since EWU and/or UM could finish with the same record thus earning regular season co-champ titles.

And while you might say "who cares?" It could make the difference in going to the NIT for one of the teams.

I think the NAU loss to UNC can help us by the fact that they'll need a win pretty bad when they play Sac!!

True, but it does make things more difficult for the Griz too. Say Sac does lose to PSU and to NAU. If NAU and Sac finish with the same record (for 3rd and 4th place) and EWU and the Griz finish with the same record (in 1st and 2nd) who hosts? Sac would be 1-1 against NAU. So I think the tiebreaker would depend on how they did against the team in first place first... well if the Griz and EWU are tied for first, who actually is in first depends on whether NAU or Sac is in 3rd...which depends on who is in first.

My head hurts...

Hopefully Sac will just drop all 3 games or EWU will drop a game and make this easy :P

Pretty simple from UM's view...

1.) Sac State has the H2H and one less loss at this point. That means they need Sac State to lose at least two.

2.) EWU & UM are tied currently in the loss column and split their matchups, so then goes to record vs. next highest team if #1 happens. If NAU>Sac State, then that favors UM. If Sac State>NAU, then that favors EWU. With NAU loss tonight, it makes NAU>Sac State impossible because even if Sac State loses last two and NAU wins last two, Sac State would be 2-1 vs. EWU & UM while NAU would be 1-1 vs. EWU & UM.

Do they group it that way though if Sac loses two and finishes tied with NAU with 5 losses while the Griz and EWU win out and finish tied with 4 losses?

With there being a tiebreaker needed at 3 and 4 (due to NAU and Sac splitting the 2 games) it usually would go "How did they do against #1?" first. With #1 being dependent on who was #3... doesn't it get a bit messy then? Or do they lump EWU and UM together like one entity and compare how Sac and NAU did against both at the same time? Will have to dig up the tiebreaker rules and do some reading I guess.

Either way Sac controls their own destiny. They win 1 and it's all over for the Griz. They lose both then it gets interesting. They lose both and EWU drops one and WOOHOO we are hosting! :P

Griz can finish no lower than 3rd right now which is nice. Don't have to play the hosting team until the championship game.

Absolutely amazing to even think this was possible a few years ago. Wow. :D

So sac gets to host without even having to make the MONTANA trip, in a makeshift gym next to a climbing wall and a yoga studio (hot rock massage , anyone??) because their regular gym is smaller than the auxiliary gym at my Y.

Yeah, this is one great fucking conference.

It will be interesting to see if the conference puts any pressure on them after this shit show. I thought they knew the deal when they joined. Apparently, you can just ignore the BSC Conference administration without repercussion.

UM's modern relationship with the BSC reminds me of The Giving Tree. Guess which one is the tree.

Enough already.....learn to live with it cuz NO OTHER CONFERENCE WANTS YOU.....

Nope. By essentially ignoring the issue and allowing us to host in the Well, the Sac State facilities issue (from a BSCT hosting standpoint) is basically gone. Good luck trying to rollback the Well as a viable option in the future…ain’t happening. Sac State admin certainly has dropped the ball on this issue (especially considering the students passed a referendum for an events center a decade ago), but thank BSC incompetence for allowing it to get to this point. You guys should definitely leave this rag tag conference…oh wait, no one wants you. Oh so sorry.

We just need to win one more game... :)

Yes, and if you should happen to pull that off, which I doubt, then you have to win two more games to make the tournament.

Is this all new to your program?

I agree that our situation should be better than it is but it all goes back to when the BSC didn't put a time limit on building a suitable arena....they left if open-ended unfortunately and Sac St. and Portland State haven't done anything about it......NOW the BSC has forever allowed our administrators to side step the problem......I guess it's no different than our federal government pushing every problem down the road for someone else to address.....

The way it's shaping up Fullerton should lobby the NCAA into NOT televising the championship game. Do we need to show any more people that the BSC plays in phone booth size gyms so small you need to step outside to even change your mind?

(Even phone booths have become obsolete)

So let me see if I understand this. sac has known for years it had embarrassingly, ridiculously shitty facilities, but because the BSC didn't force them to at least upgrade to a gym that would be acceptable to an over-50 church league, that's somehow not sac's fault.

Have I got that down correctly?

YES.....YOU GOT IT.......

now let me see...if Everettgriz complains about the facilities so long and hard that the BSC will have to play the tournament in Missoula....HAVE I GOT IT RIGHT????

Perfect, thanks.

I assumed as much, as that line of thinking is right in line with everything relating to this conference.
