You guys are correct. Since the Griz haven’t been competitive with SAC in the Bobby 2.0 era this game can’t be considered a rivalry.
Even if the Griz can find a way to win this November they will be 1-3. RTD.

Are not both teams in every single contest competing for the same objective and superiority on the field? Winning? Just doesn't make sense.

Griz have one single rivalry. They have the upper hand overall, Cats have the upper hand recently.

I don’t think I’m a victim at all. I actually just commented how I miss bwahl’s pregame threads which I throughly enjoy. Sometimes I come over here to see what’s new, yes I do like to keep tabs on what’s going on. Then I’ll see over half the threads are about MSU. I’ve made playful bets with Alabama gris and Elrod. Sure, sometimes the pot is stirred, but sometimes I’m gone weeks at a time and I’ll return to see dumpster fire threads that have nearly zero or even zero cat fan interactions that mods toss out because you all fling crap at each other. Trolls are not the problem… You/ egris posters are not the victim either, as much as you’d like to believe.

I'm not sure how long you've been a griz fan, but if it's been fairly recently - you might not understand the history. It's the best rivalry in the world, and fans on both sides are incredibly passionate. During the drought years for MSU, when the griz actually were dominant, most griz fans were so obnoxious about it as to literally be almost unbearable. It got really, really bad. So, not that the Cats are back on top again (Make no mistake... the Cats ARE back on top), some of us are just throwing stuff back a little. Blame it on years of pent up frustration. :lol: Is it childish and immature? Absolutely. Are we all going to keep pitching schitt back and forth? Absolutely!

Hoops, I understand your points on the Cats. I am not disputing that. My post was just about looking at the Griz expectations from an outsider . I was always impressed with how fans had high expectations for their success. Like I said, the Griz lived up to them. My question is why does it seem expectations are lower now? I have read posts on here that they already have returned to dominance. I just don’t see that compared to earlier years when the Griz had that long streak. Calling them dominant now just doesn’t seem to compare with the dominance they had back then.

NDSU might be able to stay there. By the way, a former Griz player who worked with the athletic department at NDSU in the past half dozen or so years, told me that the program reminded him of Bobby's program. Said there were remarkable similarities.

Most of the current debate is over the progress Bobby has made. I and others believe the progress has been very good, and last year's slight dip, was a blip and due to Johnson's two injuries.

No one has said the Griz have returned to dominance except me, and I was mostly blowing smoke back at a Cat troll. But, as I wrote my posts, I realized that, but for last season, the team had gone towards the top very fast. At the end of 2021, the Griz were sitting good and just clobbered the Cats. I agree that the Griz, even at end of 2021, were not dominant like the old days. Of course, the Cats aren't dominant either, and never have been.

No one in Griz nation thinks that last year was okay. However, some of us understand the game well enough to be able to see most of what happened last year. This year's Griz team should be very good. Subject to how good the qb's are, and the couple holes that are still being filled. Besides transfers, there are younger guys in each of those holes.

The Cat running game is very good, and a bit unique, but it is not unstoppable (except for the Griz, ha). The overall offense is good too, especially with all the long pass jump balls there were successful last year. I still think there was some luck there. And the receiver making most of them is gone, I believe. Had Ifanse stayed, the offense would have been better. Ya, I know he was out most of last year, but he's a terrific rb. The Cat D has some weak players, and I've been told that by my coach friends (not Griz coaches). Your DC is not liked/respected by players, and doesn't even know the names of any but the best players. Calls them by number and not name. In your spring game, he was yelling at numbers.

Thanks for clarifying things Hoops. You make some good points. I do agree the Griz should do well this year especially with that schedule thatis similar to what the Cats had last year. I respectfully disagree a bit on your evaluation of the Cats. They are still loaded at RB that now includes a transfer from Wisconsin and a highly touted freshman out of Seattle. Couple them with Sumner, Elliot , Coon and Marquis Johnson and that is a solid group. They also brought on a couple of very good transfer WR. Also, I think the defense will be fine.

In any event, looking forward to an exciting season as it unfolds. We are fortunate to have two good teams here in Montana.

First, I've been a Griz fan longer than a lot of people on here have been alive. I'm well aware of the long history of the rivalry. I have been an egriz member since almost the very beginning. You don't need to mansplain things to me.

Second, in order for the cats to be BACK on top they would have had to have been on top at some point in the not too distant past. Don't get too used to being "on top" though because nothing lasts forever.

I said Infanse was good, actually special. He is better than all of those other guys put together.

Your rb's who played 13 games last season averaged 53 and 27 yards per game. Ifanse played I'm 3 games and averaged 04 per game and 10 yards per carry. Big difference.

Like I said, it's literally the best rivalry on the planet, and I'm extremely passionate about it. It's OK if you aren't as passionate about the rivalry as I am. I've had a bunch of really good friends play for the griz, and some of their sons too. I've watched them all, and loved every minute of it. Rarely will I rip on or slam players, unless they deserve it.

It's like I always say... griz fans are really what makes it so easy to hate the griz. :lol:

To bad Griz fans don't get the same opportunity on scat nation. Can't even answer a tax question over there without being dismissed. Really does show how thin skinned most cat fans are. Yes that is in the past but so are the last 5 years. 2023 is the only thing that matters right now .
