PT. it's not a source, just what a coach who is very connected to alot of football in MT told me. I don't speculate about general conversation like so many do. i just take those convos for what they are worth. I'm a firm believer in the adage that no one knows for certain what an individual will do until he actually does it and that's the case with Trod. We'll find out when he's either enrolled at UM or at MSU in a couple of weeks. Until then, it's all speculative. I along with the rest of Griz nation want Trod to be a Griz BADLY, just as I did when he was considerinG UM as a hs senior. But I think it's very naive to think that MSU doesn't have a very good shot at landing him too. Very naive imho.

I agree that it's naive to think MSU doesn't have a shot, I just find it hard to believe that a coach like Ash would promise a starting spot at a position he hasn't played since high school. That's all.

Any coach who promises a starting position to a recruit is a lying. No coach with any credibility would do that. Yes, there are some without credibility. Ash is not not one of them.

I saw a guy that looked a lot like Tanner driving on the interstate from Bozeman to Missoula today. There has to be one of you insider know it all jock sniffers hanging around Adams today - anyone see him up there?

No really - anyone see him up there today?

Not sure what is worse about these types of transfer threads……..

……..the desperate fans reading too much into rumors……the full of shit “insiders”……..or the regurgitated, played-out, lame-ass Kessman/Forcier/Perry jokes. Those were slightly funny a couple years ago.

Not sure what is worse the poster that goes by Raider or the Raiders? Both sound like losers to me. Oh wait I know that one for sure is a loser. And Kessman jokes will NEVER be played out.

Thank God, just over a month for us to all find out who xfrs here. Bennett or Roderick would be great.

You should know on Roderick within the next week or so. MSU starts classes next Wednesday, and if he's not enrolled, then I think it's pretty safe to say he'll be headed to UM.

Former Bozeman High standout Roderick officially released from Nevada scholarship

The first step toward Tanner Roderick’s presumed return to the Treasure State became a reality on Friday morning.

Roderick, a former Bozeman High School standout who put together one of the best prep careers in Montana history, was released from his football scholarship at the University of Nevada.

Roderick confirmed the release via text message to Bobcat Beat. He declined to comment on his future plans, but did say he would grant Bobcat Beat an interview next week after he sorts out his future.

There has been widespread speculation of Roderick’s transfer before the confirmation came of his release. Multiple sources close to the situation have confirmed Montana State and Montana have been in touch with the 2010 Bozeman graduate.

Roderick just completed his second season in Reno. If he transferred to the FCS, he would have three years of eligibility remaining and would be able to play right away.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound quarterback set the Treasure State on fire during his senior year as a Hawk. He was the state Gatorade Player of the Year in football and basketball, marking just the third time a Montana athlete claimed the prestigious award in two sports. Former Bozeman High standouts Shane Collins (football, basketball, 1986-87) and Kirsten Tilleman (soccer, basketball (2006-07) captured multiple awards.

In football, Roderick led Bozeman to its first state title since 1917 and just the second in school history. He led Class AA in passing and rushing, throwing for 2,457 yards and 28 touchdowns and rushing for 1,913 yards and 23 touchdowns. Both were school records. Roderick rushed for 185 yards and a touchdown in Bozeman’s 28-7 win in the 2010 Class AA state title game to cap a 13-0 season.

In basketball, Roderick was equally as dominant. He led the Hawks to a 22-1 record, capped by a 26-point effort in Bozeman’s 61-53 state championship game victory over Billings West. Roderick averaged 19 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.5 steals as a senior.

"He's a dominant factor on the court. He's a good perimeter shooter and penetrator, and he's a very good defender. If he hadn't committed to play football in college, he probably would've gone Division I for basketball. He's that good,” longtime West head coach Doug Robison said in a press release about Roderick’s Gatorade Player of the Year award.

Roderick has ties to both Treasure State Division I programs. His father, Steve, played at Montana State in the early 1980s while current UM head coach Mick Delaney was an MSU assistant. The owner of the Ridge Athletic Club in Bozeman is also a lifetime member of the “M Club” at MSU.

Aside from his familiarity to Delaney, Roderick’s former school-mate Brock Coyle is Montana’s starting middle linebacker.

Roderick’s Montana State ties stretch beyond family. His close friend Heath Hunter is a redshirt freshman linebacker/defensive lineman for the Bobcats. Manny Kalfell, a redshirt freshman wide receiver, like Hunter, was part of the 2010 Bozeman state title team.

Roderick was one of six quarterbacks on the Wolfpack roster last fall. As a sophomore, Cody Fajardo completed 67 percent of his passes for 2,786 yards and 20 touchdowns and rushed for 1,121 yards and 12 more touchdowns in earning All-Mountain West honors. The 2011 Mountain West Newcomer of the Year will enter his third season as a starter in 2013. Sophomore Devin Combs (6-2, 215) played in five games last season. Tyler Stewart (6-4, 215), Jacob Hollister (6-3, 215) and Hasaan Henderson (6-5, 215) were all true freshmen in 2012 for Nevada.

Roderick never took a snap as a member of the Wolfpack.

Roderick initially chose Nevada over Montana State, Montana and Washington State because of head coach Chris Ault’s famed pistol offense, an attack Roderick became familiar with in high school. After 36 seasons and 223 wins as the head coach in Reno, Ault retired late last month.

When does U of M start classes? I have not confirmed 100% on Roderick. Yet, nobody has told me he is not coming. One student I know well, continually tells me, he cannot tell me or anyone. He just says, come signing day, we will be very happy with a transfer we will be getting. I asked him, Is it Roderick? He told me, he cannot tell me, but he won't say it is not. I am taking it as a very good hint, it is Roderick.

So in reality you have no idea who he was talking about. If I were you I wouldnt go telling people Roderick is transferring based on having no info on that whatsoever.

It seems to work for you in EVERY single one of your posts.

I have a stupid question. Is this guy any good? I mean, I know he went to Nevada, but would he be a difference-maker for the Griz?

These are our legends. They are handed down from parent to child and are evidence of our own stupidity. They are important.

I trust the people telling me what they are. The majority of time (better than 75%) what they tell me is accurate, and usually does happen. I have been told by a friend of mine, he is coming. Unfortunately that person is not a player, a coach, or faculty. Not one of them, has told me, it will not or is not happening.

The sense I get, is he is coming. Even if I was told outright by someone on the staff, faculty, or player, there would always still be a chance of things changing. That is subject to change until Tanner makes it official. I was told by a few Brekke was coming too, and he even confirmed it at one point. As we know, since then, it has changed. Technically, not one of these players are official until the the paperwork is signed, and both parties confirm it.

I am thankful for the people I do know, and the information they do give me. Go back to smoking your bong. I trust those people much more than I would ever trust you. Hell, if everyone came aboard but one person, you would be the one person coming on here, saying "I told you so."

I will also take Hammer's insight over most everyone's here. Hell, not even the proclaimed insiders have confirmed anything about Roderick, or anything on any player until we have seen it from Peyton's posts. Recruiting is a crap shoot. Until signing day, anything can happen. I don't post very often that a player is coming here, unless I am pretty comfortable with what I hear, and who I hear it from.

For the most part, Hammer does not come on here posting crap like that either.

I seen a playoff game, HE had over 600 yards total offense. Kid can play.
