Wheres Chase?? Dope.

Would be a good get. :thumb:

So then are we still confident that JJ will come back? :?

With them both here, we'd have an obscene amount of QBs.

Jordan Johnson JR
Tanner Roderick SO
Trent McKinney SO
Shay Smithwick-Hahn JR
Brady Gustavson FR
Adam Brzczeck SO
Makena Simis RS (I'd assume)

Maybe you should go read every post in that thread on the first page.

The coaching staff had better be able to find a way to get the best athletes on the field. I dont see any other downside to having the cupboard this full

Roderick, JJ, Gustafson, Adam B, and Simis at QB. (assuming the best of course)

SHH to TE, or transfers. McKinney to slot or safety (then again, I think with more experience, he could be a very good qb in this system).

If Roderick does come here, I HIGHLY doubt JJ would end up back on the team IF he were acquitted. Make no mistake, Roderick is coming here to start, he wouldn't even consider coming here otherwise. Roderick and JJ are the same year essentially (if you count this as his redshirt year). No way U of M deals with the PR issues that come with bringing JJ back if we already have Roderick on the roster; its just less messy for U of M that way.

By the way, I also heard from reliable sources around a month ago that people in the Athletic Dept. were fairly confident we'd get Roderick. Even so, I still felt the odds were stacked against us with Roderick and MSU, so I didn't say anything. Glad this info is starting to be substantiated. If it happens, this could be one HUGE piece of the puzzle that this team was missing last year.

Crazy, was just having a convo with a coach who knows a lot of kids today, and he said he didn't know which way Trod was leaning, but he said, Ash told Trod he would be a starting receiver right away, and then be given the option to compete with Bleskin and Prukop for the QB job in the spring of 2013 or stay at receiver if he wanted.

I'm not doubting anyone's intel on Trod leaning towards the Griz. But I'm not optomistic he'll choose UM. I think, like with Brekke, the Cats steal this one late in the game. Ash is an outstanding recruiter and a hell of salesman according to many, and couple that with Trod's ties to the program and I think MSU wins out eventually. Totally my opinion. Hope I'm wrong. In fact, I will really enjoy being wrong. We'll find out soon enough as I believe school starts at both places in a couple of weeks.

I thought I'd just add this little tidbit in... and here "Box" thought I was blowing smoke... Apology accepted Big Guy ;)

I have a hard time believing that Ash would promise a starting receiver slot to a kid who while being very athletic, hasn't played WR in a long time, and would then let him try out for QB the next year. I also have a hard time believing that Roderick wants to play WR. If he really wanted to do that, he could probably do it at Nevada. I'm not dissing you or your sources, I just find it all fairly difficult to believe.

PT. it's not a source, just what a coach who is very connected to alot of football in MT told me. I don't speculate about general conversation like so many do. i just take those convos for what they are worth. I'm a firm believer in the adage that no one knows for certain what an individual will do until he actually does it and that's the case with Trod. We'll find out when he's either enrolled at UM or at MSU in a couple of weeks. Until then, it's all speculative. I along with the rest of Griz nation want Trod to be a Griz BADLY, just as I did when he was considerinG UM as a hs senior. But I think it's very naive to think that MSU doesn't have a very good shot at landing him too. Very naive imho.

I'm in the same boat Havgriz. My cautious optimism is tempered by the reality that MSU holds a lot of cards that we don't. And vice-versa, for that matter. The next couple weeks will be very interesting, to say the least. I don't think it's a stretch to say that T-Rod would not only be the gem of this recruiting class, but also the most crucial component to next season's success.

Looks like we have an arms race going on between QB and RB.

How many QBs does a team need? Well, at least one GOOD one and preferably two. last year the Griz had zero. It's is clear that some of the current Griz QBs are not Big Sky caliber. If the Griz had a top QB last year they would have been much better. Rod has a great opportunity if he comes here. He will sit on the bench for at least next year if he goes to MSU. I think he will decide where to go based on what is best for him and not because of a family connection to MSU.

This.

God you guys are gullible, and there is nothing in the news (despite the tone of this thread) that suggests he is leaning towards the Griz.

Tanner will not be a Griz.

I fair to differ... When he left Montana he had 2 schools in mind. Nevada and UM. He now is coming back to Montana and UM has a QB dilemma, msu DOES not.
