Crazy, was just having a convo with a coach who knows a lot of kids today, and he said he didn't know which way Trod was leaning, but he said, Ash told Trod he would be a starting receiver right away, and then be given the option to compete with Bleskin and Prukop for the QB job in the spring of 2013 or stay at receiver if he wanted.

I'm not doubting anyone's intel on Trod leaning towards the Griz. But I'm not optomistic he'll choose UM. I think, like with Brekke, the Cats steal this one late in the game. Ash is an outstanding recruiter and a hell of salesman according to many, and couple that with Trod's ties to the program and I think MSU wins out eventually. Totally my opinion. Hope I'm wrong. In fact, I will really enjoy being wrong. We'll find out soon enough as I believe school starts at both places in a couple of weeks.

God you guys are gullible, and there is nothing in the news (despite the tone of this thread) that suggests he is leaning towards the Griz.

Tanner will not be a Griz.

I fair to differ... When he left Montana he had 2 schools in mind. Nevada and UM. He now is coming back to Montana and UM has a QB dilemma, msu DOES not.

We will after this next year. But he'd have an opportunity right away at UM, for sure.

But with our WR corp, there is a good chance he would break into the starting lineup for the Cats next year. We just don't have anyone with his size and ability on our WR roster. Even being rusty, he'd have a big advantage.

I would think he is the odds on favorite to win the starting QB job given his skill set and our struggles there last year. I am not even putting JJ in the equation. Even IF he is acquitted, there is that pesky little student honor court which has a different burden of proof than a court of law. I would bet money he starts for us next year and that our production out of the QB position is at least 30% better than it was this year. If he wants an opportunity to start next year or even the following year at QB, then UM is for him. The cats seem pretty high on Bleskin and Prukop for the forseeable future. Whatever he chooses, I am sure he will have a very productive career. He was a phenomenal athlete in high school.

well since i'm dumb and an "expert"...uhh, duhh, maybe because he has a lot of friends on the team or because he's committed to the team or because he's familiar with the system or because he knows he can beat everyone else out for the q.b. spot or because he loves to play the game he's been around his entire life. other than that i cant really think of any.

PT. it's not a source, just what a coach who is very connected to alot of football in MT told me. I don't speculate about general conversation like so many do. i just take those convos for what they are worth. I'm a firm believer in the adage that no one knows for certain what an individual will do until he actually does it and that's the case with Trod. We'll find out when he's either enrolled at UM or at MSU in a couple of weeks. Until then, it's all speculative. I along with the rest of Griz nation want Trod to be a Griz BADLY, just as I did when he was considerinG UM as a hs senior. But I think it's very naive to think that MSU doesn't have a very good shot at landing him too. Very naive imho.

I agree that it's naive to think MSU doesn't have a shot, I just find it hard to believe that a coach like Ash would promise a starting spot at a position he hasn't played since high school. That's all.

Keep an eye out for Bennett drooping down to the Griz in time to enroll this spring so he take part of drills and win the job. I took a look at this facebook a few weeks back and he does have a couple notable Griz players as friends.

I think its far more likely then all the scuttlebutt associated with Roderick. And I wouldn't argue with either.
