43% of college men admit using coercive behavior to have sex, including ignoring a woman’s protest; using physical aggression; and forcing intercourse; 15% acknowledged they had committed acquaintance rape; 11% acknowledged using physical restraint to force a woman to have sex.

Is this stat for Fing real?? Almost half of college men rape?? If thats the case this country is in serious trouble. I have a 25 yo son and can say with 100% certainty that he would never ever rape anyone and respects women and if she said stop he would. That came from the way he was raised, to respect and treat women with respect and dignity, the way I was raised.

Wow that stat just sickens me!

Are you just being a smartass at this point, or do you truly not care about the fact that a horrible thing actually did happen? Is it all really just a game where the only thing that counts is whether there is a conviction (boo!) or whether the heroic defense attorney (hurray!) can overcome law enforcement and the prosecutors (boo!) to "win" his client a free pass (hurray!)?

Don't bother asking questions. He doesn't answer.

Hmmm, well maybe the court system will go easy on him since rape is apparently so common on college campuses. After all, this "ain't over". So now you're shifting your stance from, good kid who wouldn't do something like this to, well rape is very common when you mix college kids and booze? I wonder if you would be so quick to throw out all these stats if it was your daughter that got raped. You are truly a piece of work PR.

Hammer, this is the kind of response, and raising of boys, I was expecting. It also sickens me to see these kind of numbers. It sounds like you and I were raised a lot alike. I know my friends raised their boys the same way.

Seriously, where does this kind of behavior, and actions come from with today's young men?

I'm pretty sure Coach Pflu knows a hell of a lot more about Jordan Johnson's character than ANY poster on this board. If that's his comments about JJ's character, I'm willing to Pflu's word for it at face value. This whining by posters about every little thing about this incident is hilarious.

Well I'm guessing Pflu would have taken the same stance defending the "Moral Fiber" of a different player accused of sexual assault... had there not been a "smoking gun" voice mail in the picture.

Well, I'm sure you're wrong on that. Pflu went above and beyond the call, on his comments on JJ. If you can't see that, then I guess that says something about you.

Hmmm, well I suppose I could be wrong, just like you were dead wrong when you stated something to the effect of, "From what I'm hearing... this whole thing will go away because BD is a good kid." And then the voicemail surfaced and pretty much proved that a sexual assault happened. So I guess your stance on that particular issue (Being wrong) must say something about you.

The hairball hacking losers are all over egriz now but there wasn't a one of them to be found on here late november/early december last year. Why was that? Didn't want to talk football after you ran your meowers all fall about the "changing of the guard" and "the passing of the torch"??? How did that work out for you???

Back to the woodshed, you red headed little f*cks!!!

36-10 and it could have been a lot worse.

Dude, how can you take what he posted for more than informational, which I appreciate? I will be the 1st to admit, PR, and I have not agreed on some things, and have had our words at times, but did not take his post as anything more than informational. Not only do we have a problem with our legal system, but the bigger problem is with the well being, or not so well being of America's fiber with today's young men.

Any parent reading this, better be sitting down with your son, or sons and telling them how wrong this kind of crap is. That also includes preaching it to no end to all friends of your boys. Even further, preaching to young girls, how unacceptable this should be, and never be afraid to confront any ass hole with this kind of attitude.

Tell you what, If, and when any boy, or man sexually assaults any female of importance to me, they will have more than they can handle from me, friends, and family. They will surely regret their actions. I cannot even imagine the fury of a parent hearing something like this from their little girl.

Yup, my father would have knocked me on my ass if I so much had even looked at a women wrong. He was old school. You didn't cuss, you opened doors, took your hat off when a women was present and under no circumstances would you ever put your hands on a women. I'm not that old school, but I raised my son with basically the same values. I'm happy to say I believe I succeeded

I have no idea where this comes from with today youth. I have a theory but won't post it on here.

I am a huge Griz fan and a fan of Phlu and his coaching, but his comments seemed a little over the top...
coaches, teams should have eachothers backs.

He laid it on a little too 'thick' in my HO. JJ is back, but will see how it all hangs out from now on. JJ is a fine athlete and perhaps a very decent human being.

a different world from the athletic scene I came from decades ago in college ball.

Gee Wally thanks for the lecture on the good old days.

Well, considering that violent crime (including rape) has been dropping dramatically in our country for a couple decades now (see attached chart -- the bottom one is better because it show it on a per capita basis), it would appear that the kids today are a whole lot less likely to commit rapes than those people who were in college back in the late 80s and early 90s.

http://www.disastercenter.com/crime/uscrime.htm

That said, I would assume we'd almost all be strongly in favor of anyone who did commit a rape today being held accountable for that act by our legal system to prevent a repeat of that behavior and to send a message to others that it is not okay.

These young men are subject to so much more now then ever before with all the media outlets, blogs, social networks etc etc. Thay are facing challenges that they have difficulty wrapping their minds around the heightened levels of accountability associated with who they are!

I am of the belief that coaches & administrators alike are still scrambling to come to terms with it all as well. Your SID has become a publicist/P.R. director and that detours from what they're true functions should be within the program as well.

every word, every action, every moment & emotion is scrutinized at a level like I have never seen before. I try to encourage my son to make "business decisions" when it come to all of this. Be conscious of the fact that there are serious consequences to every action, big or small!

These young men need to realize the size of the pond that they are swimming in! They are ALL targets for undesirables and users that take advantage! Hang in there Gentlemen...go Griz!

Every 2 minutes, someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted.
Here's the math. According to the U.S. Department of Justice's National Crime Victimization Survey --there is an average of 207,754 victims (age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault each year.

There are 525,600 minutes in a non-leap year. That makes 31,536,000 seconds/year. So, 31,536,000 divided by 207,754 comes out to 1 sexual assault every 152 seconds, or about 1 every 2 minutes.

Rape/Sexual assault is a serious and a nationwide/communitywide issue.

Its good to see people actually starting to realize this a bit more on here instead of just blaming the University for the failings of our own children and us as parents and a larger community.

This issue has been with us for a long time and didnt just suddenly pop up. The Penn State child rape cases have everyone looking around and to an extent thats good if it helps reduce these terrible incidents. Hysteria and false allegations are not good though, we need to avoid allowing this to become an out of control witch hunt.

And UM is not rape U either. Type in RAPE UNIVERSITY OF (Fill in the Blank). You will be astounded how this issue is EVERYWERE. This only reaffirms its a society wide issue we have to address, not unique to Missoula or the University of Montana.
