Is he getting good, or what? Smooth delivery, aware of everything that's going on. His early observation that both teams were burning their timeouts in the second half came back to haunt us on the final possession. Clearly a fan of the Griz, but willing to compliment other teams and other players when appropriate. He is really developing his craft.
Extremely important, too, because an announcer is so much a part of a team's brand. I always think more of NAU because of their announcer, and much much less of the "homer, refs-screwed-us" types that abound in the Big Sky.
Speaking of our brand, here's one other thing I'd like to see: A return to the striped shorts. During the Cat game, one of the kids in the student section was wearing a maroon-striped outfit, and it reminded me that once upon a time, back in the Zip Rhodes era, as pictures clearly show, the Griz wore striped shorts. May have been an idea they picked up from Indiana, the first visitor to play at the new Field House. But with 300 some-odd teams playing D1 basketball, you have to distinguish yourself. Hell, over on the football side, thread after thread is devoted to the uni's. Why not for basketball as well.

, but I am in full support of Riley and all he brings to the table. He's really good,IMO, in all aspects of his job-a great announcer and Griz ambassador. NAU has gone through about 6 announcers in the Mick/Riley era. Nobody plants their flag as the NAU announcer. It's strictly a launching-off point for guys to send out air-checks to more desirable gigs.
