Riley Corcoran/ Striped Shorts

Is he getting good, or what? Smooth delivery, aware of everything that's going on. His early observation that both teams were burning their timeouts in the second half came back to haunt us on the final possession. Clearly a fan of the Griz, but willing to compliment other teams and other players when appropriate. He is really developing his craft.

Extremely important, too, because an announcer is so much a part of a team's brand. I always think more of NAU because of their announcer, and much much less of the "homer, refs-screwed-us" types that abound in the Big Sky.

Speaking of our brand, here's one other thing I'd like to see: A return to the striped shorts. During the Cat game, one of the kids in the student section was wearing a maroon-striped outfit, and it reminded me that once upon a time, back in the Zip Rhodes era, as pictures clearly show, the Griz wore striped shorts. May have been an idea they picked up from Indiana, the first visitor to play at the new Field House. But with 300 some-odd teams playing D1 basketball, you have to distinguish yourself. Hell, over on the football side, thread after thread is devoted to the uni's. Why not for basketball as well.

I searched for Zip Rhodes on gogriz and did not locate any pictures. I am not sure what you want, but the striped-shorts concept does not sound very good.

Q for those in know = Does Akoh return to the Griz lineup soon and build up some minutes of action , or is he running out of time in his senior season?

Griz had striped shorts just a few years ago?

I mean "stripe-striped!" Like Indiana wears:

It seems to me that many teams opt for the extremely plain uniforms now days. Not sure why that is. I would like to see the uniforms get back to maroon and silver in stead of maroon and black.

This.

I don't know if I fully understand what all citay is talking about here,as usual :), but I am in full support of Riley and all he brings to the table. He's really good,IMO, in all aspects of his job-a great announcer and Griz ambassador. NAU has gone through about 6 announcers in the Mick/Riley era. Nobody plants their flag as the NAU announcer. It's strictly a launching-off point for guys to send out air-checks to more desirable gigs.

Maybe I missed the sarcasm, but....Uh....wtf you smokin'? NAU probably has the best announcer outside of Mick or Riley. He's been the Football for announcer for 14 years and men's Bball announcer for 17 years.

From NAU's website: https://nauathletics.com/staff.aspx?staff=205

The General Manager of NAU-TV and the Assistant Director of the Office of Communication and Media Relations, veteran broadcaster Mitch Strohman returns for his 14th consecutive season and 17th overall as the “Voice of the Lumberjacks” for football and men’s basketball on the Learfield Lumberjack Television/Radio Network. Strohman also handles play-by-play duties for selected women’s basketball, soccer and volleyball games. Entering the 2018 season, Strohman has called the play-by-play for 180 NAU Football and 481 NAU Men's Basketball games on the radio in addition to dozens more on NAU-TV dating back to 1991. Strohman has called more than 780 NAU Lumberjack games over his 31 years in Arizona. Strohman has also been on the call for more than 100 Flagstaff-area high school football and basketball games.

Spot on Fan! Have listened to Mitch for years and the man is an OUTSTANDING and EXCEPTIONAL professional. Love listening to him when the GRIZ play NAU. He ALWAYS mentions Griz listeners and loves to acknowledge them during his requests for on-air emails. I know because he acknowledged me once while I was listening to a football game. No question one of the top 2 announcers in the BSC.

I'm not so sure what's taken you guys so long in your recognition of Riley. I spoke up for him awhile back and everybody jumped all over it.
Take in the coaches show on Tuesday and you'll see him at his best. Go Griz
