I know nothing

Well, you just proved that you know at least one thing, Big Guy.

I used to know how to start companies (I mean, with Obama's help that is), and build them up by employing several hundred Americans, then sell them for lots of money. But, I guess I forgot. now, I am relegated to educating clueless sugar-coaters about the game of football. :)

We need to get Ellis Henderson the ball

agree completely.... i want to see what this guy can do once he gets the football in his hands :thumb:

Here is my pick to be a game changer every week for us...please, get him the ball coach!
Go Griz

He has to be able to get open first. Maybe that's the problem.

he was wide open several times in the app state game. the question is whether he can catch the ball if it gets thrown his way.

yep....a couple of McKinney's passes he missed Henderson completely wide open....was frustrating to watch.

TM can't throw the ball that well, we all saw that in the spring and fall. Oh sure he can hit the bubble screen but his percentage of going down field is not great. Anybody have stats on that?

It will come this team is just starting to grow into what we hope they will be in December!

We just have to give TM more time...There is no alternative anyway. We can't play the Stanford transfer, even if he was better, because he doesn't know the playbook. It took time with JJ, and will take time with TM. If we had a better option for QB, the coaches would play him, plain and simple, so we should all put to rest this notion that TM can't throw the ball and so we should put someone in who can, because the fact remains that there is no such person on our roster. Besides, I think our offense has looked stellar at the start of this season; we run the ball VERY well, which a select few posters insisted we wouldn't be able to do, and we have a QB who has looked the part of a star in the making. Just give it some time. We get a win over Liberty and that App game is a distant memory. I'd be willing to bet that we will all be on the McKinney bandwagon sooner than later, and just as has happened with Dan Moore, those who trash talked McKinney will eat their crow....

I was able to catch a little practice on Tuesday and Henderson scored three times on three completely different routes...no problems catching the pill...looks like he plucked the only one thrown to him at App State too. I want to see him more involved in the offense or move him to Corner where he can stop other teams best guy.

Whats the focus been like this week. Im just curious as to how the team responds to a loss when it comes to their practice habits. Is there more energy, less energy, same-ol same-ol? Just curious.

first i am a hermmy fan, but must point out he had a very poor tackling game at app state,,,,if you watch the game again, you will notice from the middle of third qtr on the whole team did not tackle well...it may have been from fatigue of holding them scoreless while we got back into the game,,,,anyway you slice it, we can do much better and i expect hermmy and tully to do just that....

Unfortunately, the poor safety/ corner back play has reached "beat a dead horse" status on this board.
As some posters have suggested, we have a depth problem at safety anyway so we are stuck with Hermy/ Tully for the year. This issue will continue be with us.

Lebsock is a RS Freshman and probably not ready for prime time yet.
Rominger is listed at 5' 10" but looks more like 5'8" so tall receivers would be a bad match up for him anyway.
Coogan the "hard hitting JC transfer is out with a neck/spine injury.
Gamboa is red shirting.

I don't know how good the receivers that we will be facing for the rest of the season are going to be but I can tell you this, if coach Ty can't make an "adjustment" on the "skinny post" pattern for a TD, it is going to be a mute point. Believe me, the OC's of the of SD/ ASU saw SOMETHING on tape with our personnel and scheme. Hermy/Tully have been out of position horribly on those two TD plays. Maybe mixing in cover 3 every now and then will help. I don't know. If we are going to improve our DB play, coach Ty will have to "step up" too.

How long is coogan out for? I hadn't heard this.

Delaney thought the safeties played fairly well against App St.

Yes. He has been saying that since camp started. To his credit, he has a little Dick Vermeil in him in terms of not publicly criticizing players. But when receivers make one quick move on the corner and the deep middle is wide open for a TD, that is a problem. I would like to be a "fly on the wall" during the safety meetings when they review the tape.

In the pre-season the conventional wisdom was that the defense would be quite good and would have to carry a young offense through the first part of the season.

In the App game the offense scored 27 points, usually enough to win, but the defense gave up 35.

So....what do you think, might the defense be not quite as skilled as first thought?

The O gave App. 14 points.

You know, everybody's focused on secondary play, Hermanson, Tully. I only got to see a couple highlight reels, but the run defense against ASU, right from the line of scrimmage, looked pretty damned weak to me. No expert (just a "pedestrian" fan) - thoughts?

We held them to 3.3 per carry.

If you saw their rushing highlights from the 4th, that one's on the offense. When your O has four three and outs, the defense gets pretty damn tired. Miller could have walked in on that last TD.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.
