I said they were innocent at this time as the cases have not been to court yet. Since there has not been a trial yet, I take that as they are innocent right now of any crime. MSU's position is that they wait for due process. I do not know their reasons for their policy. I agree with you they should be able to take action and maybe they have taken some. Their policy is not to comment. So, we don't know. Yes, it sucks.

Except that Vigen DID comment on Willie before the three hour suspension so that he could acknowledge "something" was done before bringing him back to coach out the year. Conveniently, he has not commented on the other two since it is the offseason and he doesn't need the coaches on the field in front of cameras at the moment. That's what makes all this even more strange. It's clearly not policy, policy is just a silly word they are using to justify burying their heads in the sand. Unless you're suggesting Vigen actually violated university policy by talking about Willie's "suspension." So is Vigen in hot water too?

MSU stated that they do not comment on employee matters in a newspaper article. . You would need to contact them to find out more about it. Yes, you are right, Vigen did comment. I saw that too.

This is spot on. Sixx either violated existing policy when the DC was popped for his third, or a new “policy” was created when the OC and RB coach were popped. I’m guessing the latter because the whole story on what went down hasn’t been told. Just a hunch.

What have you done as a cat fan to express your displeasure? How about your buddies? Have you called the AD? Communicated your concerns to the Administrators? Contacted the BOR? Withheld season tix purchase? My guess is you've done nothing except post on your Big Bros message board.

My guess is you actually take great pleasure in watching your school with a castrated Head Coach cloak these crimes. After all...your team has a game with SDSU coming up.

Lame, weak, and soft - just like your HC and AD.

Yes, I have made my concerns known to the AD. And, I also have friends that have done the same. Also, I know of people that have taken it further. Overall, I am very unhappy with the way this has been handled to date.

Prove it. Post your letters of outrage.

I did it by phone.

Of course you did...who did you talk to specifically and what did you say?

Friggin lying cat fan...

I guess in your world, if you are a Cat fan you can’t be pissed off about this sh-t show with these guys. 🙄

My world is the real world. You're not pissed, and your fan base certainly doesn't care. The vast majority of your fans are content with this "due process" nonsense. That is the shit show - and you and your buddies are starring in it.

So - answer the question - who did you talk to and what did you say...on the phone?

Meh, he’s not really like that so much anymore. I believe him.

Nah - she is lying - completely not believable. Comes over here with a soft stroke and thinks we should believe the schtick...

"Guys - we don't know all the facts...yeah it could be a problem, but we just don't know. I sure do wish this was an easier situation."

Yuck.

I am a principal in a large district here in Montana. Over the past fifteen years I have been here, I have had two teachers be arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Both refused to submit to a breathalyzer. The teachers were immediately suspended with pay. In each case, I met with the teachers union, district leadership, and our lawyers the following day. Both the union and district leadership, in each case, felt the teacher should be terminated immediately. The reasoning was simple (and twofold): 1. We set the example for our students; 2. We work for the public and are entrusted to be good stewards with their tax dollars. Our lawyers gave us the same warning MSU's lawyers probably gave them - do not take any action until they receive full due process. Both the union and the district felt STRONGLY this is a hill we were ready to die on and this situation is precisely WHY we have attorneys. We would deal with any legal consequences if they arose. In each case, the teachers' contracts were terminated after one day.

Leaders in any industry are faced with situations where they must choose between doing what is right and what is easy. True leaders will hold true to their values and are not afraid to take a beating. My wife and I have five combined degrees from MSU and are absolutely sickened by how this has been handled. We try and attend a game or two every year but will not be back for a while, nor will we attend any alumni functions. We will instead go to two more Griz games and watch my former students play. I have emailed both Leon and Waded and expressed my disappointment. Their responses were almost identical (I think their secretaries replied with a form email crafted by their attorneys) and did not address my concerns. Pathetic.

Sanity - finally.

The degree to which MSU has gone to NOT address the issue is more than disconcerting. Everyone who works in a publicly funded position understands they are held to a higher standard. If I were to go on Facebook and post a picture of my wife and I having a beer at a Griz game, I would be suspended immediately and the school board would meet with the superintendents to decide whether I should continue in my position. I FULLY UNDERSTAND THE STANDARD TO WHICH I MUST ABIDE AS A PUBLIC FIGURE/EMPLOYEE AND AGREE TO LIVE BY IT. Any other self-aware and sane public servant (especially those in high paying/profile positions) understands this too. Yet talking about Mack's punishment for his arrest, Vigen says "A one game suspension is significant for a coach." The fact these two clowns (who are easily replaceable by the way...it's not like they are NFL-bound) still have jobs is a slap in the face to the rest of us who are apparently less important and play by a different rules. Pathetic.

Unfortunately, MSU has a habit of sweeping the misdeeds of athletes under the carpet. When I was an undergraduate 20+ years ago, I TA'd a criminal justice course for a guy named Dan Murphy. I graded papers and gave him the scores to put into the gradebook. A high profile athlete in the class had the writing ability of a middle school student. I routinely failed them, not only on content but on grammar/mechanics as well. They turned in their final paper and it was beautifully written. I typed the first sentence into Google and found most of their paper was plagiarized. I reported it to the professor, who went to the dean of the college of letters and science. I forgot about it thinking the student was screwed. A couple of weeks later I was going through final grades and noticed this student was not only still enrolled in the course, but earned a 'C' for the semester. I asked the professor how this student passed the course. He said, "The department chair spoke with the athletic director. They called this student's father, who assured them the student would be punished severely. They lost their vehicle." Wow! How harsh! How would they go on with their lives?! An athlete was held to a different standard than any other student, who would have failed the course and be booted from school or placed on academic probation. Fast forward a couple of years and this player would later be charged with sexual assault while still on the team. They should have been gone but someone was victimized by this loser. Pathetic.

Well, I certainly would be interested to learn to whom he voiced concern and the content of the response. The response isn’t confidential if they disseminated it to a public fan.

There has to be a reason why they commented freely on the DC’s third DUI arrest and refuse to comment on the OC’s DUI arrest per (apparently new?) “policy”.

Happens everywhere, including um. I know of some examples of griz football players failing drug tests, but the students in the lab threw away the results. True story. But, most importantly, what’s the consensus here? MSU fans are bad, and unethical, and um fans are righteous?

Bulllllllllllllllllsshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

And yes, any MsdUi fan supporting the decision-making are bad and unethical. Any UM fans who did if the roles were reversed would also be bad an unethical.

Only this didn’t — and won’t — happen at UM. It happened at MsdUi. No amount of “what ifs” will deflect from that. MsdUi’s administration’s actions (rather lack there or) are despicable, indefensible and embarrassing.

So, what did the person/people say when you called? I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt here by believing that you called, so the least you can do is tell us what was said. It’s not confidential.
