report of sorts

Just seems to me that:

a) he's a life-long position coach in just his second year as head coach, he's got a career losing record as a head coach....there shouldn't be a complacent bone in his body.
b) last year's Griz team went 5-6, the first losing season in 25+ years. They return 19 starters and are BUILT for a deep run into the playoffs. Compacency had better not even be in their f***[*] vocabulary.
c) It just seems like such an odd word to use on the first day of practice. I mean, did he think he saw some people out there who DID think they were "there" after one day?

I just hope, if it isn't misplaced to begin with, that the Assistant Coaches do a well enough job that the HC can, on his part, assume to take credit for everything while just laying back and watching it all as it takes place. With an occasional "atta boy" thrown in every once in a while per game during the season.

People who think Johnson will struggle in a more conventional offense because he is a spread-option QB will be pleasantly surprised. He's not a small, quick QB who struggles making plays with his arm. The dude's an unbelievable passer - accurate, strong, smart, and deadly when the play breaks down. Doesn't matter what offense we run, the kid will make plays.

I agree, in part; this primarily because after a year off just how fast can JJ get back into shape for the upcoming season. Initially, I wouldn't suspect he'll be as top notch as he was during the latter part of the 2011 campaign, but after a month or so he might just be back to that level.
:D
He has strengthened and matured over the young boy of 2011. He will be better.

Its more a mental thing and after what he has been through I can't imagine any defense even phasing him!

This is the most athletic Griz team in history in my humble opinion, thanks in very large part to Mick Delaney. He's brought in FBS level talent, the talent he is used to coaching at his former FBS school where he coached for a decade and a half before he dropped down to FCS Montana to coach.

Sit back and watch Mick Delaney lead the Griz to a national championship this year! The roster is set up to have a banner 2014 as well.

PS...Watch for Marq Rogers to be a deep and red-zone threat (fade to the back of the endzone) this year. I've been touting him since he signed back in Feb. He's shown up and is the real deal. EWU no longer has anything on UM's receiving corps (because of the guys we've brought in).
