I was thinking about recruiting and how coaching staffs generally bring in freshman and red shirt them to build future teams.
However, I seem to recall when Pete Carrol was at USC he recruited with the sell of immediate play. Granted Carrol was in the hunt for blue chip recruits. Carrols approach did however appear to work.
Would Montana be able to offer the same? Granted on a much more limited scale. It would seem with the offer to play immediately UM might be able to land more 3 or even 4 star recruits away from some power 5 schools here in the western states. The recruits we might gain could have 4 years of play at UM rather than sitting a year or two or not playing at all at a power five.
One would think UM may have a solid shot at landing some more high talent recruits with a stadium and facilities on par with a good many MWC schools. We have a very solid fan base which certainly would aid in landing some of these kids.
I may be way off base, but thought I would pose the question.
