The bigger problem with Abilene Christian is that it's in Abilene!

Hey now... You're plowing a little too close to the corn. Hah. I actually love Abilene. It's 1000% better than Albuquerque.

well THAT particular bar is set really, really low.

The real Abilene is in Kansas.

I was excited to see what he could do here. I hope he finds a good place to land. That RB room is pretty stacked here.

Good for you;-). Sorry…. Kids will be kids!! Kids make mistakes like I did. . Maybe learn from me, or your mentor’s, maybe morals don’t mean much to you cause you’re young ? Talk to Child’s , and Harris first. Then talk to Gilman , and Ostmo? They are all winners. Good luck buddy! Money don’t mean shit over a free degree, and ask Coach Green whether your good enough to play in the NFL? Maybe you are, but you just made it more difficult You can work in the oilfield and easily make six figures? Good luck in the NFL. Coach Green will tell you it don’t matter where you play. They will find you if you got game. Sorry man, thought we had a good one? Money talks though!!!!!!! NIL’s suck, and this portal BS. You want to pay off my student loan?! I had to work full time and go to school?

This NIL sh*t has absolutely ruined college sports for all but the well heeled schools. Commitment is just a word. Nowadays you get all the character you can afford.

I'm curious if last Saturday's game was the final time we'll see X in a Griz uniform, I sure hope not.

With Ostmo leaving, I'm hoping that X sees that he becomes Option #2 very quickly. Really hope he stays...I've enjoyed watching him play.

To Iverson Young: We hardly knew ye. Oh well. Come back to Texas and play in front of 2500 people at Houston Baptist or Abilene Christian or Texas A&M Commerce or some other such program...

It would t really make sense for a guy to transfer from
Montana to one of those schools if it does have anything to do with NIL money. If it’s strictly about playing time probably.

I’m hoping we get lucky enough to have Gillman for two years. He’s someone who could actually play at the FBS level.

A huge portion of these kids that enter the portal end up hardly playing at all for the bigger schools.

Dang. Was hoping he and Gillman could be a two-headed monster next year once Ostmo moves on. Best of luck, kid. I hope you kill it on the field for your new team in every game that isn't against the Griz.

On that note, I hope the new NIL is doing whatever it needs to be doing to keep Gillman around.

Isn’t this new era of college football fun?! Players getting actively recruited and offered money who aren't even in the portal yet. Even at the NFL they have tampering restrictions in place…..not in college though, where it’s the Wild West and anything goes….this doesn’t really apply to iverson young hitting the portal, but some of the better FCS teams like NDSU are scrambling NIL deals and stuff right now to try and hold onto their players WHO ARE GETTING 6 FIGURE OFFERS while they’re not even in the f***ing prtal. This is OUT OF CONTROL

Maybe the blizzard was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Iverson Young, the highest-rated commit out of high school in program history, was attracted by the fans too, but in a different capacity. He didn’t visit during a game day. All the way from Texas, he came in the offseason, in the cold and got a warm welcoming.

“Everybody there is pretty much family,” Young said. “It’s a loving community. People speak to you when you’re walking by, it’s not a big place, everybody loves everybody and I like that.”

Will be interesting to see where he ends up, best of luck to him.

mmmkay. Best of luck Young.

Did he even take a snap?? Maybe a couple. I wish I was that elite. Thank God Gilman is a smart young man, and knows he can play in the NFL and be a millionaire by staying at Montana plus get a degree. He is a stud just like Harris, Childs, and Ostmo. Coach Green has the good ones still. We ok, but just disappointed a tad….

I’m being a selfish fan, but I hope Ostmo changes his mind and finishes out his eligibility.

I would like this too. He plans to work in his family's contraction business in Oregon. I assume he's just ready to move on with his life. I can completely understand that. Great player. I hear he's a great kid too.

If Ostmo listened to Elders like us, he would never leave..

There are seven million things wrong with the scenario that led to Iverson Young to put his name into the portal and maybe two or three of them deal with Iverson directly.

You have a signing period that is next week, an active transfer portal during the season, NIL offers being dished out to players through intermediaries before they've hit the portal, and no real oversight by the NCAA to much of it anymore. None of that is or should be laid at the feet of Iverson. He's free to take advantage of a system that demands, if he is going to transfer and have scholarship money thrown his way to do so at the beginning of the portal period because it falls before the first signing day. He's gotta transfer if he's decided Missoula isn't a good fit NOW and not three weeks from now. That was Sammy Akem's point on twitter and I completely agree.

The system is broken and it is going to require some significant restructuring and I just don't think the NCAA is going to be up to the task. This scenario isn't Young's fault wholly and I wish him only the best.
