[Note: In case anybody is wondering why the hell I'm arguing with spysk, he answered my question to beaverboy (above) with a link to an article about the Texas A&M coach calling Stitt an "offensive genius." Then he removed the post.]

That is correct, after scrutiny of you post, I make a correction, with my explanation to the question in your post.

Now, getting five gifted turnovers and still barely beating an NEC team at home, that certainly doesn't bode well for your team, does it, catwatcher?

The Cats or anyone else have no bearing on a true statement. Why did you feel you needed to bring the Cats into the conversation?

Thank you Grizfan-24 for giving a football educated opinion. You have stated many points I have tried to make in a much more informed manner. I appreciated your level headed comments. Plus, so far, your interjections have not allowed 75 and Hellonwheels to highjack yet another thread with their petty bickering.

The biggest gripe I have is that Bob's offense doesn't seem to fool anyone (wheel route TD against UNI excepted). I (perhaps erroneously) expected that the read option as conceived in the Stitt offense was supposed to be tough to defend. It seems anything but. It appears that most good things that happen are a result of extraordinary execution. Throws have to be perfect, runners have to break multiple tackles, etc. We haven't seen the "Stitt Sweep" run but once this year IIRC. I realize that this is a "read" type of offense where the QB ultimately decides which way the play goes in most cases but I think the current concept is making the opponents defense look better than they are. Does BG still not have a strong grasp of what Stitt envisions? (Yes I know they were in theory playing conservatively again UNI for a reason but STFU wasn't fooled and it didn't happen much last year either). I am hoping to see a whole lot more in the near future or I will personally be forced to demote Stitt (by the power vested in me) from "Offensive Genius" to merely "Offensive".

Sorry for the individuals derailing your thread, evidently they can't read a title to a thread.

To get back on track.

There is a difference in talent and speed compared to what Stitt was use to on both ends of the ball. He isn't use to the speed of the defenses, that alone could be an issue

Yea, I am tired of having to wait until the end of each season to see this so-called genius's offense start clicking. Look at EWU, for God's sakes. They replaced their QB, four linemen, and multiple receivers from last year, and Baldwin has them firing on all cylinders already. The bottom line is COACHING! If you do not have the personnel to run your system, then change your system to fit your personnel.

I sincerely doubt Bob would ever refer to himself as a genius of any kind. He is a humble and genuine person. I make light of the extreme expectations heaped upon him that may be impossible to achieve. I would frankly be happy to discover that he is just a good offensive mind that can lead a team to the top of the FCS. Haven't seen that just yet...

Grizfan 24 you are correct in your observation on how neutralize the D end including using your H back. The idea of the H back was invented to help with the D end in the spread offense. I never once said one negative thing about Phlugrads offense. He ran the basic spread and had some imagination. I have talked to 2 big sky assistant coaches who are not coaching the Bobcats and they think the Griz offense is pure vanilla.

Looks like I did not express myself adequately. I am NOT ready to fire the coach, quote: " I would rather see him succeed. The Griz don't need constant change at Head Coach, of whom we've had four in the last seven years." Meerly pointing out the obvious shortcomings of Stitt's plan todate. I did not think the Griz could beat them, true. This IS year two of a three year contract. He needs to improve from year one and next year if he expects a contract extension. UM is not some stepping stone FCS school to buff your resume on. Last year, he could not/would not make necessary changes in his philosophy/plan despite not having the personnel to implement that plan. He has shown he has a learning curve, a bit on the flat side at times, but still....The Cal Poly game will show what he has accomplished. For that matter, this whole season will be examined in fine detail to see if his plan is fact of fluff.

Couldn't disagree more. Stitt changed his game plan significantly last year when faced with using his 2nd (and then 3rd) string QB's....He also moved away from several of the elements he championed coming in...maybe he didn't make changes enough to suit YOU, but he most certainly made changes through the course of the year.

Hyperbole is the tool of the trade for some. But, your point is a good one. We can't go through what The Udder folks are going through. That would be a real setback. No one in Griz Nation wants to see that. However, I think its sinking in even to the die-hard fanatics that we have a problem on "offense." Only one man can fix it. He took the job.

On the other hand, since "Defense wins championships," we may do OK anyway.
