I guess I just don't see how the Griz could not be behind EWU and Sac St. given the head to head losses which the committee does consider Then if the Griz lose to MSU you have MSU, UCD, Sac St and EWU ahead of MT meaning the committee would have to take 5 teams from the big sky for MT to get into the playoffs

There is literally no world where 8-3 Montana with an FBS win does not make the playoffs. Zero.

It doesn't matter what our conference record is.

We are 100% locked into a playoff birth if we win next weekend.

If those 4 teams are ahead of us, then the Big Sky is getting 5 teams in guaranteed.

This is correct. An 8-3 Griz team is in and would force the committee to take 5 Big Sky teams (which has happened before).

There have been times they take 7-4 teams and even took in a 6-5 WIU team a few years back if I remember correctly when they took in 5 MVFC teams one year.

Right now, the Big Sky has five teams with 2 or fewer losses. The CAA has four with 3 or fewer losses. The MVFC had five with 3 for fewer. The SoCon has four with 3 or fewer. The weaker conferences have around a dozen with 3 or fewer losses. Some of the teams involved play each other of course. However, not including likely auto-bids from those groups, we're likely to see at least a dozen (probably more) teams with 3 or fewer losses hoping for at-large bids. I do not think this will be a year when a 4-loss team is likely to get a bid (except for an auto-bid).

I have the Huskies game on, hoping they mention them losing to the Griz while they beat up on the #4 Ducks.

The announcers did mention the Huskies losing to Montana earlier in the game, so we got that shoutout. :thumb:

I didn't keep the game on, couldn't take the high quality broadcast that didn't give me a headache.

If neither end up seeded, it's a very likely first-round matchup, and there's a good possibility one will get funneled to the other if the other is seeded.

Or they'll just send us to Fargo. :lol:

Sac ST 6-0 (7-2) Portland St – UC Davis
UC Davis 5-1 (8-1) –EWU – Sac ST
EWU 4-2 (7-2) -UC Davis – Portland ST
UM 4-2 (7-2) - NAU -MSU
Portland St 4-2 (7-2) -Sac ST - UC Davis


There really are not any guaranteed wins in any of those games. Near post season football is always a different breed of games.

That’s the cool thing about not moving up. It doesn’t matter where we fall in the playoffs as long as we’re in. And to think…we could be jockeying for position between the smart food popcorn bowl and the ritz cracker bowl.

Yeah with how tight the conference is though I really feel NOV 20th game will be for a playoff appearance. Griz win they are in, lose they are out. Cats are in win or lose but win they are a top two seed.

Griz will still be in at 8-3.

I won’t tell you to sober up, but it might be wishful thinking that we will see a total of 21 points between both teams. The strength of both teams is their defense and I think it’s entirely possible this will be a slug fest similar to the Weber/cats game with a final score if 6 to 3. Since that’s the most reasonable expectation, it will most likely end up being an offensive shootout.
