Questions for tonight’s emergency GFP

-The timing of this seems off, is this a stop gap hire due to how late in the year it is and due limited coaching Market with how crazy the carousel was at the D1 level?

-With a rough Away schedule this upcoming season (an FBS team, #3 in the Big Sky Davis + 3 places we've historically and recently struggled playing in) how many losses will be tolerated for him to be considered as the new full time HC rather then the interim he seems to be in all but name?

Based on the established Bobby standard, not many.

AD said he was told 12 hours before the announcement. Do we really believe Haslam didn't have any idea Hauck was ready to retire? If not, why not? Seems Hauck either made a very snap decision to retire last night, or he really doesn't talk to Haslam much/have much of a relationship. Otherwise, why not give him more than 12 hours of a heads up? Do you think Haslam has a list of coaches he could have contacted to see initial interest?

Talk about what a horrible way to end his career! Two losses to the cats in the same year AND they go on to win the title! All on his watch! I have always loved Bobby but does this tarnish his legacy?

From what I have heard, the thought of him hanging up wasn't dropped 12 hours prior, but his final decision was.

I bet Hauck had been considering it and they had a transition plan. He told the AD what his decision was last night, and the AD implemented the transition plan. I don't buy that this was truly as sudden as people are making it out to be.

Any thoughts on the shuffling of coaches around this, like who would become the WR coach? (My dream pick is Akem). Does this change the calculus of Robbie coming back, in your minds?

Secondly, will the offense change much? If Pease stays and is again calling the plays, I'd be very curious to see how the calls change with him working under Old Bobby vs under New Bobby?

I am curious how many guys would want to take a low paying position coach position this late and maybe for only 1 season.

So you extend him if he goes like 7-5? Not sure that works.
Well that would still be better than Bobby's record his first year back in Montana, although I certainly can see that the situation was different then. I think he should get at least a couple of years to prove himself, but I'm not sure that will happen.

Of course Bobby had a multiyear contract and wasn't inheriting a 13-2 team.

Who will coach special teams now?
Will we see a big drop off in special teams play going forward?
Is it possible that Bobby H could stick around just to coach special teams and nothing else?
