Based on the established Bobby standard, not many. The timing of this seems off, is this a stop gap hire due to how late in the year it is and an limited coaching Market with how crazy the carousel was at FBS?
And with a rough Away schedule this upcoming season (an FBS team, #3 in the Big Sky Davis + 3 places we've historically struggled playing in) how many losses will be tolerated?
Will Tim Hauck stay on staff?Seems like we’ve got stuff to talk about. We are expecting a guest as well - hit us with questions and thoughts.
And yes we’ll discuss the 3-3-5’s future![]()
The Bobby standard was based on how many years he was into his tenure. A coach in his first year should have some more leeway than he would in his 8th year.Based on the established Bobby standard, not many.
So you extend him if he goes like 7-5? Not sure that works. The Bobby standard was based on how many years he was into his tenure. A coach in his first year should have some more leeway than he would in his 8th year.

From what I have heard, the thought of him hanging up wasn't dropped 12 hours prior, but his final decision was.AD said he was told 12 hours before the announcement. Do we really believe Haslam didn't have any idea Hauck was ready to retire? If not, why not? Seems Hauck either made a very snap decision to retire last night, or he really doesn't talk to Haslam much/have much of a relationship. Otherwise, why not give him more than 12 hours of a heads up? Do you think Haslam has a list of coaches he could have contacted to see initial interest?
NOTalk about what a horrible way to end his career! Two losses to the cats in the same year AND they go on to win the title! All on his watch! I have always loved Bobby but does this tarnish his legacy?
I bet Hauck had been considering it and they had a transition plan. He told the AD what his decision was last night, and the AD implemented the transition plan. I don't buy that this was truly as sudden as people are making it out to be.AD said he was told 12 hours before the announcement. I am curious how many guys would want to take a low paying position coach position this late and maybe for only 1 season.Any thoughts on the shuffling of coaches around this, like who would become the WR coach? (My dream pick is Akem). Does this change the calculus of Robbie coming back, in your minds?
Secondly, will the offense change much? If Pease stays and is again calling the plays, I'd be very curious to see how the calls change with him working under Old Bobby vs under New Bobby?
Well that would still be better than Bobby's record his first year back in Montana, although I certainly can see that the situation was different then. I think he should get at least a couple of years to prove himself, but I'm not sure that will happen. So you extend him if he goes like 7-5? Not sure that works.
Of course Bobby had a multiyear contract and wasn't inheriting a 13-2 team.Well that would still be better than Bobby's record his first year back in Montana, although I certainly can see that the situation was different then.
