Quarterback

Brady has to learn to run with the ball. He is a big guy. One play he would have got the first down if he hadn't have slid to the ground. That's about the only thing that annoys me other than that he's a decent QB.

If he falls down with the ball forward it's 5 yards, seriously.

But the reverse happens when he slides.
My point is that he should put his shoulder down and get those extra yards when we need em..
Agreed. He also seems to slide too soon much of the time. Needs one more step prior to slide.
Gotta admit that I was pretty shocked when he didn't drop his shoulder and take one more stride to get the first down. I don't want him to get hurt, but both the CP and NDSU quarterbacks showed more willingness to get critical yards - I'd like to see Gus do the same. Inexperience and lack of blocking are both factors, but....
Quarterbacks Edwards, Ochs, Selle, Berquist, JJ and Dickenson would have got the first down. Swagger, Roper and BW would slide instead. Just sayin.

Bullshit. Brint would fake the slide then pull a sweet spin move and take the motherfuckin rock to the motherfuckin house.

and then he would try to sell the motherfuckin house to the motherfuckin rock.

I smell what you're cookin'

From the scrimmages and games I saw, I feel Brady is noticeably a solid #1 QB, that will just improve with experience. To me, Simis has shown the most upside and improvement of the backup QB's. Simis throws a really nice ball, and he can make plays on his feet. Simis gives the GRIZ a nice change of pace option. I feel he is plenty capable of running the team and giving the team spark in the event Gustafson needs pulled. I just hope that is due to games being in hand, instead of Gus struggling.

Prater has a great arm, but very inconsistent. Chalich has versatility, but also looked inconsistent to me.
If and when the GRIZ have to turn to a back up, who do you feel it should be? My choice is Simis.

Crap I mean BG, BW probably wouldn't even get to the line.

I agree with Htown--in a close game and with Coach Stitt's offense where QB rhythm is important due to its complexity and pace, stick with our # 1.

Hopefully, we will soon have some games where we are up big mid-3rd to mid-4th QTR, where we can put in our # 2 and 3-- my understanding is that is Chalich and Simis-- so they get some live reps and we can rest Gus and protect his health for a more competitive game.

My understanding is Chalich, who was twice the Idaho Gatorade POY and started for The Vandals, is our # 2, and he has a good set of wheels. He is also 7 inches shorter than Brady.

Hopefully, in the weeks ahead, we'll see Chalich and Simis get some reps, but before we worry about our #2 and #3 learning this offense, we had better make sure our # 1 has it down first.

420, you are the clueless one. What happens if Brady gets hurt and we don't have a back up with any experience or confidence. Please explain why we have other QB's

As others have stated, you don't put a backup QB in the heat of a close game (like both of ours have been) just to see what you've got. If/when we manage to get into a game that has some garbage time at the end, I'm sure they'll get some reps. Relax.
I don't think anybody has even suggested that.

At least one person is wondering why we haven't seen the backup QBs in games yet.

that one person has no clue!

argie! We have missed you, dude! Don't stay away so long!

If I recall correctly, the one time Gus didn't slide, he fumbled. I'd rather he would slide. Maybe Stitt would also.

Griz fans take a deep breath! Gus has had only two games. He has performed OK. Sure he has been up and down but that is what all new QBs do. Give him the next game and I tend to think he comes of age.

We could list 10 or more things he needs to improve on. # 1 is the slide from hell. # 2 is the high throws over heads, arms, fingers etc. # 3 Watching the poor receiver from the snap, ruins the entire play. # 4 Throws way to hard to the receiver 5-6 yards away...............Many more but who cares after game 2!

The simple answer is he needs more experience. I am on the side thinking he will be the man with more time. Why? He is brilliant and Stitt sees what he likes plus he learns fast. No, for my take I stick with him! Next put in Simis for a few plays. Give him some game experience. In the end I see Gus as da man!

Two fo my Ex-Griz buddies that I was playing miniature golf with last night told me Brady defintiely should slide.

Did you stop at the Silver Slipper for a few before or after mini-golf, or are you confused on that--due to having lost 95% of what you once knew?
