Quarterback

Coach just said on the radio show the one thing Brady needs is more reps! You don't get more reps sitting on the bench.

Brady has to learn to run with the ball. He is a big guy. One play he would have got the first down if he hadn't have slid to the ground. That's about the only thing that annoys me other than that he's a decent QB.

If he falls down with the ball forward it's 5 yards, seriously.

But the reverse happens when he slides.

My point is that he should put his shoulder down and get those extra yards when we need em..

Brady kept the ball on a read option against NDSU and faked EVERYONE out for a huge first down early in the game.I sure wish he had kept the ball on a read several times during the CAL POLY game as it was there. He only needs to do it once or twice a game, but he needs to keep it or the defense moves with the motion with no risk.
Go Griz!

Agreed.

Agreed. He also seems to slide too soon much of the time. Needs one more step prior to slide.

He doesn't have to be Russell Wilson out there, but a run now and then would keep the D honest.

Gotta say I disagree with the "he should slide less" opinion.

I think Stitt probably does as well. Brady has thrown the ball over 100 times in the first two games. He is the offense. When you've got such a gap from your 1st string to your 2nd string guy, I think it's too much to risk him getting hurt just for a few extra yards. Stitt may have just told him "whenever you run and are about to get tackled, just go down". Brady isn't a natural runner, so one could argue he's more likely to get hurt running.

It's also early in the season. We'd like to win every game, but these weren't must-win situations. I'll bet in the playoffs or in must-win games, you'll probably see Brady charge forward a little more.

In hindsight, it's easy to pick on his slides that didn't get first downs, but in the long run we should be able to pick up those extra yards through the air or with the RBs in this offense

(That isn't to say I don't wish we had a more running QB. I'll always be in favor of having one as opposed to not, but only if he's clearly better than a non-runner, and I don't think that's the case here) :twocents:

I keep reading all of the QB chatter. Yes, we have 5-6 of them. Unfortunately, quantity does not equal quality. Maybe NONE of them are the answer, including Brady. If Gus keeps over-throwing receivers, and is inaccurate 20% of the tine, he is not he answer.

What chaps my ass is why EWU always seems to have a great QB waiting in the wings to replace the great starter. Why can't UM recruit these QBs? We never seem to even offer the QBs that EWU signs, yet many of them are better than the ones we sign. Just another example to the fact that our recruiting is not what it used to be.

Maybe it isn't what it used to be and just maybe.....that's good, if you're talking about recent times (the last five years) Give Stitt a few years on the recruiting end of things to be fair.

If it makes you feel better, Growler, EWU really wanted Willy Pflug.
Oh, don't worry. He'll find plenty to piss and moan about when Willy's time comes along.

Willie, the great hope! He will never be a stud here. Way too small. Stitt will bring in his boy next season. Mark it down.

You do have an obsession with my ass. No, I will NOT let you put your micro-member in, no matter how many PMs you send me! Go away!

Actually the only ass pic of you that I like is the one of it boogieing out of the back door of the Mo Club after Alpha walked up and introduced himself!

FTR, its Willy. Are you EVER right about ANYTHING?????

I am disturbed by the amount of Willy and ass talk in this thread.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

With this offense I wouldn't be surprised if in the next couple of years we get a 3 star qb who simply wants to be part of it......but that is a story for another day.
