QB1, who is it?

And that solves it Tombstone.

Our next starting QB is Huckleberry.

I should have thought of that earlier.

Simis starts...Gus ends up transferring...Pflug looks good in spring camp but coach rightly decides to redshirt him and spend first year in college learning the offense and getting his strength and conditioning up to par and his academics on schedule so he's ready to start four years starting in 2016. Chalich is primary backup and gets plenty of action spelling Simis when the rigors of running this offense catch up to him and when we are blowing out opponents in mop up time. Simis moves to bench in 2016, backing up Pflug. That's my prediction. I really hope Pflug gets redshirted because I believe it can be a huge benefit getting a kid ready for college ball. I remember when Terran Hillesland came to the Griz. He wasn't ready to contribute right away and spent his redshirt year figuring out how to be a student athlete regarding academics, and getting stronger in the weight room and learning the offense. When he entered spring camp he was like sixth on the depth chart and by the end of camp he was the starting right guard, a position he never relinquished for the next four seasons.

Simis is the guy. Coach Delaney said he is going to be "very special" and is a strong runner too.

I knew of a Griz player that wondered what he got himself into when he first arrived at his first Griz fall camp after high school. The 5 year, 4 year, 3 year, and even the 2 year players were so much faster, stronger, and more experienced, he almost quit. But he red-shirted, and became the best player on the team eventually (All American). Certaninly not as a newborn true freshman however.

The game is played a such a higher level than HS, it's quite daunting. It's not the norm for true freshman to start, especially at QB. The difference between a 5 year player and so on down the line (weght room, football experience, maturity) and a 1st year player is dramatic.

The saying is true all across college football coaches, "The best thing about a Freshman QB is the fact that next year he will be a Sophomore!".

I predict the next quarterback will be the one Stitt thinks is the best for his offense. I don't think the rest of us should give a stitt.

Intuitive, I agree with what you said. BUT, as I mentioned before, Pflug will not be stepping into fall camp like the rest of the freshman. He will already have an entire semester of college life under his belt, he'll already have winter condo under his belt, he'll have 7-on-7 and summer workout program done. and most importantly, he will have gone through a spring ball playing QB for the Grizzlies. To me, all of that makes him much more like Red-shirt freshman, not a true freshman. I'm not saying he'll win the starting quarterback battle. I have no clue on that. But also consider this, when fall camp arrives, he will have EXACTLY the same amount of experience in Stitt's offense that Simis will. One winter, one spring, one summer.

Judging by their "Twitter" accounts, both are excited Griz QB prospects, although Willy seems to be a bit more excited about it. He shows a picture of himself signing a letter of intent in his room, with his "Griz" T-shirt on. He was obviously impressed with his campus visits. He may need some "maturity," he looks to be about 14. Simis has been on campus all Fall, Pflug begins school in January.

Simis has been here for a year and a half now.

So true. If Pflug looks the best in practice, he will start against NDSU.
The real question is though, will he be best in space?
According to Ronald Reagan, Economists are appropriate to this task. If they see it actually works in practice, they "wonder if it will work in theory."

I tried to get people to predict the score of an upcoming game a few times, and it was an impossible task. Like trying to pull a fat man through the eye of a needle.

People would say, "Well, if the Griz play like they did against ____________________, the score will be 38-7, but if they turn the ball over nine times, we'll lose by 30, but maybe they'll have the fire and swagger, in which case we'll win by 79. But Jesus, we have world-class talent on the field and an ancient plow horse roaming the sidelines..."

And I would explain, yes, there are many variables, but you have to choose the most likely one, and predict one score, and one score only. But they would not make a prediction.

So I feel your pain.

So true. If Pflug looks the best in practice, he will start against NDSU. But if Chalich comes and looks good, he could get the start. Then again, maybe Simis will get the start because he is the kind of QB Stitt likes. It could be the Hawaii kid if he transfers and looks good in drills. It's just too early to know for sure, and therefore, I cannot make a prediction, because I don't know what "prediction" means.
The real question is though, will he be best in space?

:thumb:

If so, he had better be returning some damned kicks. Why not take one to the house?

If Chalich picks Montana he'll win the job.

I'm not so sure about that. Could he? Most certainly, but he will have some great competition. Again, Chad wants to play. I hope he comes here and fights for the starting job and wins it. Unfortunately for us there is at least a couple of other schools that would love to have him and could all but guarantee he will take the opening snap in 2015.

I will throw my vote in for Pflug as well, because I would love to see a true freshmen QB in his first college game go agianst our D, even if he is highly talented. Plus the aformentioned first game is also on ESPN! Might be a little more pressure than you wanna throw at the kid. What other offers did Pflug have?...any FBS offers?

Ha! UND's dynasty is over after this year. I don't think the defense formerly named as Susan will pose much of a threat.

It's like I'm playing cards with my brothers kids or something.

You've watched Tombstone one too many times.
There is no such thing as "too many times" when it comes to that movie.

:agree:

And, of course, your avatar is still friends with Katie Elder? Checked into a Dodge City, Kansas hotel (?) once along the way as Mr. & Mrs. J. H. Holliday, once upon a time, if not mistaken. Was the reputation mentioned in the following about such? Not that I have anything against good o' 'Doc,' by the way. Don't know if it's father like son, or son(s) like father on that, but an interesting slant nonetheless:
