QB1, who is it?

I don't think "who" starts is even significant. This offense is going to require that a "team" of quarterbacks be ready because over the course of one game more than one will play and over the season they will likely all play. We need a lot of players at every position to play at this pace. :o
Baylor averaged 90 plays per game this year and 88 last. Bryce Petty started all but 1 game.
W. Virginia averaged 86 plays per game and Clint Trickett started all their games last year.
With the exception of the one game Petty didn't start the only time these two teams backups played was in garbage time. There are several other examples.

Oh, and Chalich...if he comes.

Too early in the process for me to even have a clue to make a prediction. It looks to me the 4 competing for the job will be Chalich (no confirmation of his xfr yet), Prater (terrific arm), Simis, and Pflug. I feel there are some legs to Gustafson transferring out. As for Weyer, the new scheme really does not fit his abilities at all. I honestly don't see Stitt going with an in the pocket scheme. I wouldn't be surprised to see Weyer xfr also.

Amazing that a legit case can be made for all 4 of these guys. That alone is a great sign for the GRIZ. As much as I love Pflug's future, realistically I don't see him beating out the more experienced QB's in his true FR year. IF, he does win the job, that will be a huge statement on how great he is.

Is it insane for a coach to give equal 1st team snaps to 4 qb's to start spring camp? If so, how long can a team afford to allow that? I would think no more than 2 to 3 days to narrow it down. Either way, I look forward to next season already.

I hope one of these QB's can pick it up quickly. Whomever it is will have a tough task facing them whit what could be 4 time defending NC NDSU next year in a first game of the season.

I personally think as equally important to finding our QB would be getting an O line ready for it. Hopefully Chad G comes in and works some magic.

If the Stitt Bomb goes well and we be NDSU he will have the Griz and Griz nation riding high.

If we do not win, well it would stink but it will be looked at as a a known. New coach, new QB, new system and playing against Team Tatonka.

Cool QB prediction.

Hangover CDA or too much holiday already?!

Only a foolish fan would make a QB prediction for the Griz at this point. That is why I must stand with the rest of you nuts and make a feeble attempt on a prediction with almost nothing to go on.
1. Gus is leaving or at least that is what some are saying. So if true he is out.
2. Simis is a player I have not watched except for a few minutes last fall. Did OK.
3. Pflug is a damn good looking High School QB. He will be in the mix and if he makes it as a frosh then he will light up Wa Griz at midnight for 3 or 4 years!
4. Two transfers? I am not sure if they are coming. If Chalich comes I would guess he would start out ahead of the others, how he ends up I have no clue.
5. Prater comes in (if?) I would guess he would be on the top but again how he plays in practice will dictate his order. Also looks good on tape.
6. Listening to Stitt I think he will keep all of the QBs and pick one and two that he feels will best fit his program. So my final thought on a fools post is that any of these guys have a chance. I think we may have the best fleet of QBs in the League! I like em all!

Or people who can follow directions and don't equate their self worth with being correct about who starts at QB in the fall. Those guys can make predictions about anything. Check this out: I predict UM will have all maroon uniforms for the opener. If I'm wrong, it won't have any impact on my self esteem. Sack up and give a name.

Actually, the facts are that Baylor's Petty broke two bones in his back the first game of the season and didn't play in the second half. He also did not start or play in the second game. He has played every game since the injury with a sore back. He also was concussed in the 3rd quarter against Texas Tech and did not return.

West Virginia's Trickett left the Kansas State game with a concussion and did not return. He wasn't allowed to practice for a month and it is still unknown who will start the game in the Liberty Bowl.

Running quarterbacks rarely make it through the season without getting hurt. There's a lot of sliding going on in the NFL for a reason.

Are you saying that Baylor's Petty will start for the Griz against NDSU? That is a bold prediction indeed.

So...basically what I said with causes. Thanks...I guess??? Still didn't see where ANY team had all 4 QB's start a game or even play in a game this year? WVU only had 2 WB's with stats. You said they would all see the field with this type of offense, there is no evidence to support your claim. Oregon runs a high tempo offense and, I may be mistaken, but Marriotta started every game this year and evidently did pretty good at it.

Stitt is going to love Chalich.

But will Chalich be ready to play? His injuries sound like the kind that end up being long-term problems.

Not sure Chalich will even end up here now that Prater is coming. I think he is making the move because he wants to see the field for certain. With the potential starters we have it's far from certain. He surely has a chance of starting here but not nearly the chance he might have elsewhere.
