QB transfer?

Do we have a QB in the current QB room capable of leading the Griz to win the FCS national championship?

Would you have considered Andrew Selle or Cole Berquist to be championship caliber QB's prior to us actually going to the championship game with them?

Good question. They were both good, however, I don’t think at the level of Ochs, for example. I think Bobby is on the right track to bring in a QB from the portal….and I hope another one.

If Tuttle comes QB room would be complete having at least one QB in each class. 1Sr. 1 Jr. 2 Soph and 1 freshman providing all stay. Bobby has said he likes a QB in each class

Same thought here. We keep kicking this can down the road hoping we can land a one-year wonder. Tough to know we have QBs on our roster that were very successful in HS and are sitting there knowing that new grad transfers are coming in every year.

No shit. If Idaho can get a kid like they have to come to Idaho and play. What the hell is our staff even doing??

And the NAU kid. And MSU. And literally every EWU QB for the past 15 years.

I doubt this kid is coming here.. all speculation.....

Normally I agree. However in the world of social media, there are now some common “tells” that can give a good idea one way or another if there is some legitimacy to it. This dude is hitting all the tells and came on an official visit last weekend. I’d say it’s more likely than unlikely at this point.

That would be one thing, and I do think competition is a healthy thing. I just don't trust this coaching staff to actually give the QB's on the roster a legitimate chance. After all, they brought in their guy for a reason

Take a look at how the backups played late this season compared to the Indiana guy. Who is the better and more advanced qb?

I agree with you. The coaching was so poor that we didn't have a reliable backup.

You guys are acting like bringing in a transfer means there's no competition for the position. I don't believe that at all. I mean that only happens when it's the coaches kid! (I'm sorry. I just had to.)

If kids get beat out by other kids in fair competition how is that bad for the talent level of a team?

Do we have a coach in any of our offensive rooms capable of leading the Griz to the FCS NC?

The operative words in your post are "fair competition"… :?

This.

C'mon, this isn't hard. The inbound guy is the anticipated starter. Humphrey, another transfer, came on-board, waited his turn, and started a season. Other than that, it's gone chalk.

And because they're coming in cold, the transfer starter gets all the love. Most of the rest of them get nothing and are told to like it. Stop recruiting HS kids because you've proven conclusively that you can't find kids to trust, or have any idea how to develop. Stop the madness.

Or just stop recruiting the HS QBs we have been recruiting. The leap is way too large for the kids in the pool we’ve been selecting from. Not interested in watching highlight films of bombs to wide open receivers behind slow DBs after 5 seconds in the pocket. We’ve seen what happens when those factors aren’t present at this level.

Dude. Lighten up. Someone to point out that the sky is falling and there's no hope and if we only did this or that, you know, Board Curmudgeon, is already spoken for.

Coaches need to coach-up and put the qbs we have in a place to succeed. No reason we can't win with young qbs like Idaho and MSU have done.
Holy crap, your most lucid post, agreed!!!

My bad.

It's been mentioned on this thread and others as well as all over the country that the new portal system could end the way college teams recruit, especially from the HS ranks. Clearly there needs to be incoming HS kids but not at the same rate maybe and that would be sad. More competitive bigger schools like throughout Texas could be feeding most of the country in future. I think Montana HS kids could take the hardest hit, at the D1 level at least. Hope I'm wrong.

If teams just trade players, and also have players run out of eligibility, the HS kids have to go somewhere. I think the portal could give programs like Montana an opportunity to sign HS prospects we didn't have a chance at before.
