PSU up next

Yes your OL has a lot to shoulder for this loss, but y'all abandoned the run way too early. This made it easy pickens for NAUs DL.

You'll bounce back and you'll be fine. Trust your OL and run the ball on PSU.

That is the way I saw it too. We appeared to be in desperation mode. Instead of trying to take the momentum back by pounding the ball and regaining control we were looking for the homerun time and again. Hope we settle down and push the ball down Portland State's throat and keep their offense off the field.

I started a similar thread but this PSU one is getting the action so I will just post my thoughts in here.

After watching alot of the Cal Poly vs PSU game, I fully expect our Griz to have their hands full with the Viks. I always thought the abbreviation of Vikings was the Vikes, but who am I to judge what it says on their jerseys. They have a very talented team on offense, and their receiver number 1 is a huge concern for me, he is big, strong and fast and there is no way that Goodwin can cover him 1 on 1 on deep balls.

Their quarterback runs and throws and the way our d ends and backers kept getting sucked inside we may have trouble defending him on option plays. Remember that Pflugrad play where the quarterback ran to the outside then threw a lateral to the wideout, I saw PSU run that play for yardage at least 3 times.

I am not sure about their pass defense as Poly does not throw much, but they did give up a few huge pass plays when their safeties got sucked up to the line.

Having the home field should help the Griz out to beat PSU, but I am thinking it will be a close game, might come down to a field goal. Good thing Worst is our kicker now.

I hope our line can fix the problems from last week, I think PSU will blitz plenty, we need to take advantage of the 5 to 10 yard pass and get some yards after catch.

Hopefully the Griz can bounce back after a big conference loss, they don't have much of a choice because if they lose every game from here on out becomes a must win. Let's put the negativity of the Saturday night behind us and hope it is just a speed bump like the Sacramento State game was a couple seasons ago. GO GRIZ!!

With psu having a Thursday night game they have 2 extra days to prepare for Montana. With the issues that have seemed to arise with our entire football team it sure would be nice to have a few extra days. in the Missoulian JP made a wierd comment. Something like we couldn't get it stopped. Things aren't going to be any easier this weekend. IMO its make it or break it. A win will bring back that sense of confidence we seemed to have before nau..... Sidenote I watched the psu game on Thursday and when it was over I felt we could beat them....I still do. :thumb:

A kicker named 'worst?'

Poor kid.

Screw his name, I just wish PSU had a real kicker.

Well NAU had kicker tryouts during our game, maybe you can too.

HornyVike could be one of the best screen names ever on EGriz. You may want to remind you uniform designers that Vikes is spelled with an e, I laugh every time I see Viks.

UM got dinged up pretty bad after their beatdown in Flagstaff. If you got a chance to watch the game on ROOT, some of the weaknesses were dicsovered & exploited by the NAU staff: blitz pick-ups, weak tackling angles, downfield blocking, and sloppy routes.

The O-line.....ugh. Holding calls, jumping offsides, and chop blocks really hurt 'em.

Let's hope they don't clean things up.

were we exposed? hmmm more like choked. I don't believe we will do the same for the rest of the year. what you all thnk? :ugeek:

The Griz win this one 48-21. PSU can't handle WashGriz's atmosphere, and their passing game won't be enough to consistently move the ball this week once the Griz actually run a few blitzes early in the game to make their QB unsettled in the pocket.

You mean like the blitzes they ran against NAU when Kantangota'a showed he was blitzing and then came on the blitz and then the throw to right where he came from while not even getting close to the QB?

If you didn't see the PSU-Cal Poly game, watch Victor Dean, 6'6" transfer receiver from Fresno State, and DJ Adams, RB transfer from Maryland. These guys are the real deal.

I think this game is the proverbial fork in the road. Win and all goals remain achieveable. Lose and we are probably looking at a long season (if the Griz can't beat PSU at home they are going to have a hard time with Poly and EWU and state college). I'm in, but it's a big, big game.

Go Griz!!
