I wonder if the "final pitch" was an offer to walk on with no promise of Prunecup actually playing.

Well, if that is the case, then it would appear my doubts were misplaced. Thanks for the update.Counter Assault said:From Alabama.com
"Saban and Kiffin attempted to sell Prukop on playing for a program with the history of Alabama's and on being able to add a dual-threat quarterback dynamic to the Tide's offense.
Saban and Kiffin made a final pitch over the phone Monday before Prukop decided on Oregon, which was his early top choice.
"It was tough because there wasn't one wrong answer," Prukop said. "There's two really good decisions, two really good schools to choose from. And it was more so what's best for me, where I'm going to be happy, and that's what it came down to.""

All this screams to me is Oregon has done a really, really bad job of recruiting. With National Title appearances, all the Nike money, state of the art facilities and they have dipped down to the BSC twice in two years? Vermin did well and I'm glad he took his shot but when you look at what athletes they had at that position from 2009-2014 (Marcus Mariota, Darron Thomas and Jeremiah Masoli) it's unbelievable how that athletic ability has fallen off the table. To compare the aforementioned names with Vermin and Prokup, it's just not even close. I suggest they remove their QB Scout Coach Magoo.bigsky33 said:,jtgriz2 said:Amazing both schools showed that much interest. Does speak volumes of his talent
Goes to show that talent evaluation is not good on these message boards. If Alabama and Oregon want you, then you have talent!

Was Prokup an FCS player? Was Neale?

That said I just don't see the Russian having what it takes to succeed with the ducks. Where I foresaw Vernon doing well if he saw the field, Dakota just doesn't have the same abilities in the passing game. None the less, wish you well comrade and hope you prove me wrong. Success there would send a strong message as to how many quality athletes are being overlooked in the FCS ranks. We do have players who can play with anyone.
