Prukop?

I wonder if the "final pitch" was an offer to walk on with no promise of Prunecup actually playing.

You don't get a personal meeting and then a call the next day from both Saban and Kiffin if you are Walking on. Face it, good or bad, he was offered from both.

From Alabama.com

"Saban and Kiffin attempted to sell Prukop on playing for a program with the history of Alabama's and on being able to add a dual-threat quarterback dynamic to the Tide's offense.

Saban and Kiffin made a final pitch over the phone Monday before Prukop decided on Oregon, which was his early top choice.

"It was tough because there wasn't one wrong answer," Prukop said. "There's two really good decisions, two really good schools to choose from. And it was more so what's best for me, where I'm going to be happy, and that's what it came down to.""
Well, if that is the case, then it would appear my doubts were misplaced. Thanks for the update.

Amazing both schools showed that much interest. Does speak volumes of his talent

Goes to show that talent evaluation is not good on these message boards. If Alabama and Oregon want you, then you have talent!

All this screams to me is Oregon has done a really, really bad job of recruiting. With National Title appearances, all the Nike money, state of the art facilities and they have dipped down to the BSC twice in two years? Vermin did well and I'm glad he took his shot but when you look at what athletes they had at that position from 2009-2014 (Marcus Mariota, Darron Thomas and Jeremiah Masoli) it's unbelievable how that athletic ability has fallen off the table. To compare the aforementioned names with Vermin and Prokup, it's just not even close. I suggest they remove their QB Scout Coach Magoo.

The guy has never been a particularly effective passer. They're going to have to start by rebuilding his delivery so he doesn't sidearm it off his back foot. Then teach him to read defenses and go through the progressions to find the open guy. No guarantee he's got the goods to be a passer at the FBS level, never mind the NFL.

Prukop enrolled at Oregon today. Waiting for spring ball. If VA would have got there on time, their season might have been a little better. As is, I don't think Dakota is anywhere near the player that VA is and probably won't do as well. At least he's tall so it might help his draft stock.

Shouldn't this thread be closed? Not griz or FCS related. Way less potential griz related news than the Alex neale threads. Stupid, seems like someone is thin skinned of has an agenda.

Was Prokup an FCS player? Was Neale?

PRUKOP: an excellent sand lot football player, excellent instincs, good student in school, fast runner for a SL QB, high opinion (of himself) plays with only 4 of the 11 teamates on his side, has few friends (on his team) flashy at times, recruited as a safety to msu, if a player is open he throws the ball....either side is ok!

Another Russian bites the dust in Montana. Prokup VZ Prukop?

Once again I wish the Russian lad well. As evidenced this season when Lil' Shooter went down, Oregon has great need for a QB.

That said I just don't see the Russian having what it takes to succeed with the ducks. Where I foresaw Vernon doing well if he saw the field, Dakota just doesn't have the same abilities in the passing game. None the less, wish you well comrade and hope you prove me wrong. Success there would send a strong message as to how many quality athletes are being overlooked in the FCS ranks. We do have players who can play with anyone.

I have to admit, I did not think VA had the skills to play at the FBS level in the Oregon offense. The kid proved me wrong. He blew up TCU until he was hurt. (Although, I felt his WRs made him look better than he is, just like at EWU.)
If "The Russian Lad" can make good then I will be even more surprised. There is no doubt (thank you Jerry Rice) we have FCS players that can play with anyone but.........damn......the speed of the Oregon and TCU skill players was astonishing.
