I'm as excited as anybody about this year's team. Height and bulk, not to mention athleticism like we've not seen at Montana, maybe ever. Possible breakout years for Falls and Pridgett (as DeCuire mentioned in his on-line interview), an exciting young prospect in Kramer, a Power Five backcourt in Oguine and Rorie, a steady veteran under-appreciated rebounder in Moorehead, and the appearance finally of Donovan Dorsey. Much to like....
...BUT...
In the era of the three-point shot, you can't rank 200-something in the country in three-point shooting. You can't go get into your schedule and suffer these long scoring droughts as we did last year against Stanford, USCB, Georgia State and, finally, Michigan. I doubt there was any team back in the Heathcote-Montgomery-Taylor era that was a athletic as this team, but we always had shooters. And the one thing by and large and in general that describes any NBA player--they can shoot.
I hope our best shooters, Rorie, Moorehead and Falls, have all improved. I hope Dorsey is as good as advertised--a 4-start recruit out of high school. I hope Pridgett is more consistent with his shot this year, especially his medium-range jumpers. I'm hoping Oguine has worked on his shooting, because if he has, he's got NBA potential.
But ya gotta put that damned ball in the basket.
Period.
