Sounds crazy but I would not mind the play-in. This team can is good enough to win that game and it counts for credits. If they had to Play VA that may be the best scenario as they don't score a whole lot but play great D.

a play-in game is like a last meal before your execution. you're a dead man walking. it means you play a one seed, and this is one case where 16 is anything but sweet--no 16 in the history of the tournament has ever won a game. it means you're from a crappy conference that nobody has ever heard of. i'd prefer a 12-15 seed, where you have a shot. and i'd much prefer to be in the mwf, which will have three entrants with decent seeds.
Not always on the 16 seed. Last year I believe there was a 12 seed play in.

Never happened......no 12 seed play-in ever.....why would you ever have a 12 seed play-in????

I AM WRONG....it still makes no sense...

Well, in a way it does. Remember, these are the last 4 at-larges selected. Without the play-in games, they'd be NIT bound.

Because they are some of the last teams in the tournament... hence play in. But some of those teams are from conf such as acc which they are still way better than north Atlantic Florida community college

I think a regular season + tournament championship with a non-conference win over NDSU (the Summit League representative) would be enough to keep the Griz out of the round of 68. I expect the four lowest seeds will be teams that not only play in bad conferences, but also unexpectedly won their conference tournaments. Some projections now have the Griz in the play-in round only because those upsets in other tournaments haven't happened yet.
