Pre Season Polls

SDSU was easily the best FCS team the Cats played last year, and will easily be the best team the Cats play this year. Everyone knows this. Weird discussion.

The Cats are striving to match the Marker schools and win a national championship, and again, the BSC won't provide much resistance this coming year. Coaches know it. Media knows it. In fact, anyone not posting on egris knows it.

They were all cleats.

PR spends most of the time on the short bus as everyone can see on a daily basis, but this post makes me concerned about my own mental acuity. What's up here? Help me out.

I know Bobby doesn't look at polls but maybe he should. He is basically getting little to no respect from the BSC just like a lot of Griz fans have little to no expectations for the football team. After last year why should they? I will say I like the coaching changes he made and I'm hopeful things turn around. Time will tell...

So after looking at the polls, what should he do?

Win

A big part of why SoDak St. beat the shit out of the Bobs is that they had better cleats. I read it on another thread.

Tommy is probably 1 more concussion away from being done with football and Chambers has shown he is anything but durable. Cats will be in trouble by mid-season.

Excuses are for losers. If we'd had our qb we'd have won! If they hadn't cheated we'd have won! If the refs hadn't screwed all those calls....etc, etc. Cleats wouldn't have won the game for MSU. If MSU had played SDSU in perfect conditions SDSU would have won. Likely 9 games out of 10. Maybe all 10. Bigger, faster, stronger, better. Same can be said of MSU vs. Griz last season, bigger, faster, stronger, better. Weber, Idaho, Sac, Davis, and most definitely MSU were all better than the Griz last year. I suggest it''s the D scheme Bobby runs. Griz pound the hell out of weak teams and look terrific. Teams that can run the ball beat the snot out of the Griz. The last time the Griz beat the Cats, the Cats couldn't run the ball, and their qb was literally a scardy cat. From Bobcat Nation, thank you Bobby. The next game started the TD Tommy era.....

Interesting stuff.

SDSU stopped the Cats completely.

That frozen field, and wrong Cats' cleats had a lot to do with that. Just like when your QB gets hurt... sometimes things happen that cause you to get your asses kicked. Luck of the draw.
Cats couldn't find a frozen practice field in balmy Bozeman to figure out what cleats to take along. Now that is a solid excuse.

I do think the Griz should be higher in the polls. They have a very favorable schedule this year. A great opportunity awaits.Going to be an interesting year in yhe Big Sky Conf. Lots of parity in the upper half of the conference.

Ah. Thanks. I missed that. My impression was that we got our asses kicked by a much, much better football team. Shows what I know.

I thought the same, and I think we're both correct. But then I learned the big reasons why they were better were the frozen field and the Bobcleats.

Last year, the bubs benefited from an easy schedule and happy hour pricing. Things will be different this season; a much more difficult schedule and more night games, meaning the coaches will miss the reduced alcohol prices. Both seem to suggest significantly worse bottom lines.

One can always tell whether a poster is talking from experience, or is just blowing it out his ass.
This man is well qualified. :thumb:

BTW, you still haven't answered my original question.

"Boze Angeles" just keeps getting truer by the year.

Have you seen those two dudes lately? They're going to destroy teams. Also, this staff has proven they know how to develop quality depth everywhere, especially at the QB position. God forbid if we have to go with QB3 or QB4, those are already some damn good players right there.

Not overhype his team like he does every year. Give Don Read a call and ask him about embracing an underdog role. Those are two things he should do. Smart guys like you and him shouldn't need dumb guys like me to tell you that.

He didn't overhype the team last season. There are recent threads showing what he said. None of it was even hyping, let alone overhyping. I was around him at qb club and socially, and I never heard him or any other coach come close to overhyping the team. I agree that you are dumb. So we have some agreement.

Give Don Read a call!

I’ve seen Tommy in a daze on the sidelines more than once and Chambers in a boot more than once, of course when one them does go out you’ll be screaming cheap shot even if it’s not.

FIFY.

BH on pre-season poll last year:

"I think we have a good team, and I was…I suppose I’d say I was pleased that other people feel the same way,” Hauck said. “It’s always nice to have that recognition.”

BH on pre-season poll this year:

“Interesting,” Hauck said of the disparity when shown the polls. “I don’t care. It’s got nothing to do with me. We’re going to play our game. I don’t think much on it. You could put us last. I don’t care.”
