Obviously, we can never know, but I tend to agree.Diesel said::thumb:PlayerRep said:Good summary, Brint. Liked how you pointed out so much of the good individual play.
I thought the targeting was clearly the right call, from every angle I saw. To me, that is the definition of targeting. I have no trouble with the rule being applied as it was against Cookus. He made no attempt to hit below the neck, and didn't. Helmet to helmet
I believe the Griz would have found a way to win even with Cookus not the field. I don't think he would have had the mental and physical toughness to survive the heat put on him by the D.
Tired of people thinking outcome woulda shoulda been different with BBC
We watched our recording this afternoon (much less stressful, knowing the outcome). Saw some real toughness by the Griz and several things struck me ... including one in particular, which was confirmed by the stats. The Griz had 8 sacks ... plus I don't now how many hurries ... against a guy who proved to be pretty agile, elusive and quick. (They also have 11 tackles for loss.) We've only seen Cookus a few times, but he does not strike me as "Mr. Twinkle-toes." Would he have gotten rid of the ball quicker and avoided some of that? Undoubtedly ... but the Griz D still put one hell of a lot of pressure on the NAU QB and backs. Would that have been enough anyway? Who knows .. and, in the end, who cares?
