Post Game: Griz shake off the rust late

I would have respected the Cross Country team if they were out there in parkas and stocking hats.
Anyone with enough antifreeze in them can be shirtless below zero.

Ugly: The fans leaving early in the 4th quarter. I've never seen the stadium emptier in the 4th quarter than today. I'm really sure the players, especially the defense, appreciated that. Great support...

Yeah, fans starting to wane in confidence. Another year this year like last year and I doubt games will be sell outs anymore

guess we'll find out who the real fans are then.

- 2 turnovers both by the QB

The INT was more JLM fault. Reese laid it right in his hands and he bobbled. Risky throw but JLM should of made that catch.

Yeah I didn't see that one so my bad. Had an older lady near my tailgate almost pass out from the heat, had to help her up and make sure she was ok.

Glad Jerry made up for it though!

Agreed.

Am I wrong, or did Cowans look way better than Sanders?

I wouldn't say you were wrong. Sanders sat out most of the scrimmages and might've been much more rusty than Cowans.

I like what I see from Phillips. O-line still hasn't shown it ca run block. Defense was not good. Overall, really didn't see much difference from last year but I do think the offense has a lot of potential. Defense, not so much. Was poor at best. Lots of talent, but very poor play on the defensive side. Gotta put the blame on Semore. Not sure he is gonna cut it. Was very disappointed in the D

Oh man. Really was hot in Missoula today then. Yeah he definitely made up for it. Can't wait to see what he looks like in 2 more years with how he has improved.

Some fans this off season I saw on both boards (not you I don't thin RayWill) were calling Jerry a one trick pony, a guy that could just grab a bubble screen and dance around. He's really added to his game this year and hopefully only gets better.

Definitely not me. I was excited when UM picked him up. Saw him play HS ball. Knew what kind of potential he had. I think that perception was more do to the play calling last year than any reflection on JLM. With that said he did need some work last year on his route running. As in HS he was mostly used as a RB not a receiver. He shows vast improvement which shows how much he worked in the off season. Natural talent combined with great fundamentals makes him deadly. Great example was how he dived for the end zone and made sure he got to the sticks on third down several times. Last year he tended to dance around too much in those situations. But after all he was a true freshman. Loved the aggressive play calls they dialed up for him today.

As far as heat goes, I really hope that UM tries it's best to schedule the first home game as a night game every year from now on.

I never leave early from the game, but I was so fried I left with about 3 mins left. It was brutal.
Very sorry I missed Jensen's debut at QB.

Nostradamus forgot to let them know it was going to be 100 degrees on September 2nd.

Best thing I've read on here all day. Just about pissed myself reading this!

Those calling JLM a one trick pony are insane and should watch (re-watch) the Cal Poly game from last year! It was only his knee injury which limited him after that. Also, wasn't Phillips sliding when he fumbled? From my point of view, I thought he was hit in he head while sliding, but I need to see a replay. :!:

If UM had bad fans the palace wouldn't be as full as it was. Tired of the blame the fans shtick. Also tired of criticism about not blindly supporting the staff. Guarantee the staff wasn't happy so why should we be. Stitt himself was on the news before the game talking about how this was going to be a blowout. A lot to work on but scary part is most is not new or player related.

Doubt it had much to do with confidence. It was hot as hell in there and people literally couldn't handle it. It was the hottest game I can recall! Folks on the east side were baked!
We sit above the cannon in the upper deck and about half way in the 3rd the heat got even worse. If you sit with your back to the sun that's a whole lot different than it in your face. But the players had it much worse so I feel bad to complain. Reason #1 billion to have NIGHT GAMES EARLY IN THE SEASON. I know Montana does not get to make that choice, to bad.
