Post Game: Good win, need some work

Forget all that pre-season all-conference stuff. The best fullback in the BSC plays his home games in Missoula, and he wears number 35. Tremendous game for Dan Moore, IMHO.

Great game and result for the opener. This team is well ahead of most past teams coming out of the gate. Specials teams kicking has to get better, it will cost us a game or 2, as is.

The OL was amazing, but then again, the game plan made their job easier. No way around it, the run blocking was amazing, we will see how much of that was us or SD defense. Right now the OL is well ahead of what I expected. The most encouraging part for the OL was getting some valuable game time for the depth, which needs to be done.

The OL did not have to worry much about pass blocking, the game plan was, get rid of the ball, and go with your decision. I think that was to help the OL, and to develop McKinney's confidence. Honestly, the decision making was taken out of the passing game. The test will be, when the offense needs McKinney to take time to scan the field. Will he make the right decisions, will he still be composed, will the OL protect him long enough to see the play develop?

I was shocked SD did nothing to stop what we were doing. I have a feeling the App State game will be a much better indicator to get a read on the offense.

By the way, can someone please tell me, how can anyone bitch about over 500 yards of offense? That running game was a sign of good things to come! That offense has attitude this year.

Also note: Rosenbach's game plan and philosophy, is an early A +. 1 game in, and i am much more confident with the play caller, and planner.

First of all, kudos to your team in a good win. I think you have been more complimentary to our team than is deserved. The difference in the game were both of your lines were better than ours by a long way. Our O line last year was so much better, but we graduated 4 starters from that line. No excuses though, the Griz big boys were better than ours.

Secondly, pat yourselves on the back for your GAMEDAY. Your fans are friendly and knowledgable, and your stadium is awesome. It was a privilege to be in Missoula for the game. The game was closer than it should have been. We have ALOT OF WORK ahead of us before we can compete. FCS football is just plain tough.

Best wishes and we'll see some of you in the return trip to Vermillion. Have a great season.

P.s. holy schmit, your backup QB is poised, and your big hoss running back is a bull. Wow.

 What a classy post good sir! Good luck to your boys this season. You have a great coaching staff, which will develop the talent you have, as well as recruit the right players for your sytem and for this level. Look forward to seeing you next season!

He's out for now, should be back soon.

He was on the field, in the second half.

I may be in the huge minority here but I don't think that was pass interference on the fake FG. It happened right in front of me and it looked to me like the Griz player ran into the defender as he turned inside to catch the ball. Haven't had a chance to see the replay and may change my mind once I do but that was my impression after watching it live.

It was in front of me too and it looked like he ran into the defender purposely, BUT i watched the replay after when I got home and from the reverse angle it looked like he was going for the ball and was hampered by the defender with pre contact...

Classy stuff Yote. Thank you.

And you guys have plenty to be pleased with as well. To begin with, your guys were not intimidated in the least by WaGriz, and even less so when they got down early.

Good luck the rest of the way. As I said prior to the game on Sat, I hope Cowboy Joe and the Yotes go 10-1. That is even more true today!!

Glad you enjoyed Missoula. Hope to see you back for the playoffs!!

How could this be? Growler said our slow-footed OL could not run block and that we had no depth.

I think what I liked best was the time of possession. We were on the negative side so much last year it really started to wear on the defense. Having a good line and three good RBs should help keep TOP more in balance. I believe the benefits will become apparentas the season wears on.

Whoa this doesn't seem right at all. Isn't this the point of the season where it is obvious that no team in all of college football could possibly ever compete with the almighty griz?? Seriously, what's the point of playing anymore games? Let's just crown the griz champs of all the football universe now....

What it means is that Griz Nation have seen enough in the first game of the season, to be assured that they will be able to beat the Cats....... Again, and from the looks of things and as young as the team is, Again, Again and Again, then we will have to reevaluate the status again.

Where was Hermy? No stats for him. Was he a non-factor? Don't seem to remember him on many plays and we need his leadership. Hope he is saving it for Boone.

It was mentioned that Canada was pouting regarding an earlier wrong by him. Resulted in his not playing much. You could sense his half cocked one armed grab at the kick off and the subsequent serious muff. He just was off saturday and needs to get his butt going. I think he will come out and do a better job this coming game. He brings some needed speed to the running back group.

He almost broke up the touchdown pass in the second quarter. Just missed it.
