I haven't worked through the numbers because I really don't care, but Eastern had Oregon and Northern Iowa as its first two opponents, whereas the Wombats chose to play two high school teams. If both of those sets of games were taken out, EWU would have better defensive stats than the Wombats, not that its a real controversy battling between 11th and 12th place.

The Griz are going to score 40 or 50 next week in Blowzman the cats haven't scored 40 against the Griz since 1985. They have won 3 times there in thirty years! All things point to a blow out win for the Griz next week that stadium will be maroon and silver only in the 4th quarter.

Look at both sides Compare ISU games between MSU and Um only a week apart. One barely wins and the other destroys the team, giving up less points.

Now look at the downward trend of Eastern.

Won by 2 over UNC
Won by 1 over Weber, only scoring 14
Lost by 22 to NAU-4turnovers
Crushed by Montana 6 turnovers

10 turnovers total the last two games


Big win, but not over the same team as the beginning of the year. Looking at the game stats pretty close, except for TO

The question is what happened to Eastern? What caused this downward spiral?

What about the UND team that destroyed MSU the week after we destroyed THEM?

It's very obvious just by watching that the Cat D is the worst in the conference, and it's not really close. I've honestly never seen such a bad defense in college football. There have been a few games where they could have literally stayed home, and the score wouldn't have been too different. That defense is an embarrassment to the State of Montana and football in general.

Funny how all the chest thumping starts every summer and the tempo continues to rise into early fall and then it becomes time to face the facts. Of course they need to get rolled by Montana Griz to figure it all out.

Starts during recruiting season, when the Wombats have these lists of "must have" in-state recruits, talk among themselves about how they always "beat" Montana for the best recruits and then as they lose their "must-haves" one-by-one, every kid they do manage to hoodwink becomes another one that Montana "lost" to the Bats, all-the-while pretending they didn't just lose most of the "must haves." It isn't a fan base over there, it's a fully delusional community of people for whom reality is something, adjusted every day, in relation to the Griz.

They are still not a good defense, no doubt. I'm just saying that they played consistently better, and on the road...which hasn't happened yet. You boys are touchy over here.

Compare the ISU games, and they look pretty damn equal

Also if you compare the ISU games, you'll see Montana played their 3rd-string QB and MSU played their 1st-string QB.

We are talking defensive performance not offensive...

Typing this from McP's in San Diego. I'll be quick as its time to celebrate. This was such a solid win for the Griz.

- the defense bent but didn't break. Great effort and forced turnovers, scored points, and punched EWU in the mouth. That had to feel good for so many of our seniors on defense that have felt the pain of so many recent losses to EWU. Holmes was a beast today. Sanders had an incredible rebound game. Nelson gets better every week.
- Welcome back Brady Gustafson. Did you notice how complex the offense became again? Suddenly third downs were converted, we're scoring TDs in the redone... And on the ground since EWU had to respect the pass! Great plays by Gus and our WRs and an awesome game from our O line.

- it wasn't all perfect. Too many lost fumbles and too often the WRs and Gus weren't on page. Got to improve that for the cat game.

Bob Stitt out coached Beau Baldwin, the Griz out played Eastern and we're a win away from the post season.

I agree, I really like what I'm seeing from our corner play this year. The only thing that drives me absolutely nuts is on 3 & 3 instead of getting up and jamming recievers...we give them a free release for an easy as pie 5 yard quick slant......nothing drives me more nuts, but thats more of a scheme issue.

Absolutely, I completely agree with you about going 5-6. Cal Poly was a quality win, they are better than their record indicates. You can look at the record and say that MSU is a shitty team, but they have been in every game they have played. The defense is the weakness of MSU obviously. All I was saying in my previous posts is that the defense actually played well last week. I'm not saying that will continue, or that MSU will win the brawl, it's just a facts based observation.

The Cats were definitely not in the Portland State game nor the NAU game... a 41-49 loss to NAU is not in the game when you are down 49-20 with 10:00 minutes left in the 4th quarter and all your points came in garbage time for NAU.
